Barbarian Level 1

Unarmoured Defense is a Barbarian Feature in Baldur's Gate 3. Features provide unique abilities or effects and can be acquired depending on the Character's Race, Class and level.

Unarmoured Defense Information

  • While not wearing armour, you add your Constitution Modifier (to your Dexterity) to your Armour Class.
  • You can use a shield and still gain this benefit.
  • Wearing Heavy Amour impedes your Rage.

      You can wear whatever equepments unless they say "Light/Medium/Heavy Armor".
      So all the cloaks, amulets or rings do not affect this skill.
      The point is, you can wear any clothes or mage robes.
      Some clothes, such as Graceful Cloth, have really powerful features, and you gain additional AC, which makes barbarian/monk tougher than rogue.

        If you get the heavy armour feat, you can wear the armour but you still get debuffed from your rage. Disappointing

          You need to remove your armor BEFORE transforming into a wildshape or it won't apply unarmored defence at all for the animal form. And of course if you forgot you cannot remove the armor while transformed... Thanks Lord there are mods... I'm enjoying this game a lot, but I'd send to serve Raphael of those that say that this thing is "polished"... Without mods to break the game in ways that compensate the miriad of bugs and oversights this thing is "unplayable".

            Don't know about monks, but Barb's unarmored defense DOES NOT WORK. My dex and my con are both +2, but my AC is 12.

                as of this comment does NOT stack with monk's feature of the same name that scales off dex. i guess it'd be silly if they did in retrospect but it kinda spoils the want to multiclass monk into a barb when doing the tavern brawler feat. rn im doing a naked solo unarmed monk and it's been great but not getting crazy amounts of ac while being a level behind in a sense makes the barb not worth it imo.

                  Does this work with magic items like helmets that are considered medium armor but are not like scale mail where it is actually providing ac?
