Defensive Tactics is a Feature in Baldur's Gate 3. Features provide unique abilities that are inherent to a Character's Race, Class, Background selected. These may vary greatly, from allowing you to equip certain Weapons or pieces of Armor with Proficiency, to add your Proficiency Bonus to certain Saving Throws.

Might as well rename this feature to Multiattack Defense Tactics since that's only sensible choice.

Haven't played a ranger yet, but assumingly they work like their 5e counterpart, they should all be passive abilities and how Multiattack Defense works "attacking creature makes the first attack like normal and if the have any other attacks after the first, they suffer a -4 to that attack roll".

Does multiattack defence work if the first hit on you was a miss, or do you have to take damage for it to work?
