If you think this is weak you are very wrong. An extra free attack on the first turn, on a subclass with bonus initiative, this extra damage will let you kill a single threatening target on the very first turn, before they can even act. Enemy wizard? Gloomstalker stops that guy on turn one. Every boss fight has minions too, gloomstalker can kill one or two of them on the first turn, which will often be more beneficial than a handful of extra d8 on the boss over the course of the fight from the hunter subclass. Dead enemies cannot attack you. Gloomstalker makes more dead enemies on the first round than hunter does. This feature is extremely good.

tried it for first time today, played to level 4. Its ok. The prob is it only procs 1 time, should have taken Colossus. I would be happier if it scaled up a bit. Its 1 extra attack (+addit 1d8) ONE time, which is cool at low levels, but once you get to level 10-13, thats next to nothing. Should get buffed with 2d8 at a higher level, say 7, then 3d8 at 12 maybe. If that sounds too much, remember, its ONE time only. :/

you all talk about how colossus 1d8 everyturn and DA attack+1d8 per combat but not ranged slashing flourish extra attack+1d10 everyturn

What's the point of dealing additional 1d8 damage once in a fight as a gloom stalker when hunter can deal additional 1d8 damage every turn. Seems like a weak subclass

Anyone know if you can use the ambush while in a Druid’s wild shape? Wanted to do a panther kind of thing but not sure it’ll work

Can you benefit from the extra 1d8 damage from Dread Ambusher and also benefit from Sneak Attack if you multiclass rogue?

Why doesn't the icon for this appear on the first round and just gets greyed out afterwards? You know, like literally a bunch of other weapon skills?
