To clarify, your 1d6 bardic inspiration die changes to a 1d8 at level 5. At level 10, it becomes a 1d10. If Baldur's Gate III went as high as level 15, you would get a 1d12 instead then. These are class features, so that's class level, not character level.
So as of right now, this is bugged. My bard got level 10 and it was 1d10 before that. Now I have the regular 1d10 inspirations that reset on short rests AND a single 1d12 one that resets on long rests only. The real kicker is that I tried to use the 1d12 in a convo (my Astarian bard used it on my Tav wizard), it didn't work; INSTEAD I now have a permanent 1d12 roll on ALL checks, as if I constantly have the buff, until the next long rest. Feels kinda cheesy so I don't think I will do this again but if this is repeatable, its absolutely nutty and makes most checks trivial.
