Even though it's not as big of a hit in the endgame, it STILL slaps because it's literally free hp as long as you remember to cast it.
This is entering complete meme territory BUT-- Storm Sorcerer's passive flight with this can be used every turn for no spell slots spent, if you need to reposition while also wanting a tiny shield, then here you go lol

does not get stronger as you lvl up at all. reminder.
but u can recast it, take damage, and recast it again and again therefore giving u a perm 7 hp buffer in and out of combat for free. (though in combat a action spent not worth unless u about to die and that 7 hp extra will help ya run away ) if u bouncing from battle to battle it is nice to know u can keep the 7hp buffer on all times, if i knew earlier this would be nice at the early stages of game .. maybe even later but im sure 7hp falls off after lvl 5-6ish. its a free lvl up hp if u think about it at all times if u keep it constantly up.
for extra help .
u at 10 max hp cast this now max 17. fight some low lvl trash take 9 damage u now at 8hp (minus 2 from the 10 max and temp runs through the 7..) recast this the temp is back on and now u have effectively 15hp. lose 10 hp, your now at 5.. half your hp. cast again back at 12. so its interesting to have this. it doesn't heal per say, but that buffer essentially a heal in itself, and the reuse is pretty nice. wouldn't say is crap, but its a per encounter thing to benefit most, and i not a free hp lvl up if u look at it that way.
im done now. ty.

This invocation comes online extremely early and bridges the hp gap between a warlock and a fighter. You have other sources of temp hp, but your spell slots are extremely precious, and Armor of Agathys is wasted on you if you stay back and sling blasts. It loses most of its effectiveness relatively quickly, but it is great when you get it.
If you are dipping 2 into warlock for Devil Sight, this is a nice to have insurance policy for when you are getting focused by a ton of baddies. Health potions are a bonus action so having the ability to get 7 false life + drink a potion in the same turn is really excellent. Helps with fall damage jumping from heights. Nice for helping with trap damage, walking through fire, walking through electrified water, etc. Its just nice to have to deal with the annoying minor damage that happens from time to time, without needing to waste precious spell slots or potions on them.
Another way of looking at it is, there are healing spells which are 1d4 and 1d8 that cost a spell slot, and average less health gained than this spell.
And since this can be cast on demand, its sort of like a healing cantrip that is better than some healing spells.
However if you are dipping into warlock for eldritch blast, well then, nevermind.
This is absolutely godly at earlier levels, a must have for early warlock gameplay
