And Larian wonders why no one plays Halfling. . . **** doesn't work.

I wrote a comment regarding it being broken for pickpocketing, responding to the previous comment from an anon. I've figured out the issue; it might not be broken after all. In BG3, when using the Halfling's Lucky feature to reroll after rolling a 1, the new dice result doesn't include bonuses from proficiency or modifiers. Let's say I'm attempting to pickpocket an item with a skill check of 11. The target roll, which considers my character's bonuses, is natural 1 (indicating that a natural roll of 1 or higher is sufficient because my character's bonuses are able to surpass the skill check when added to the natural dice roll). Even if I roll a natural 1, which would typically be a success considering the bonuses, BG3 uses a variant rule that applies Critical Failure for all checks, thus making it a fail (normally, only attack rolls and saving throws are applicable). So, no bonuses get added to the natural 1, making the shown target roll somewhat moot. If I then get a reroll result of 2 due to the Lucky feature, it's still a fail because it doesn't factor in my character's bonus to meet the skill check. To actually succeed in this scenario, the reroll itself must be 11 (from difficulty class) or higher. I was aiming to craft a character that could never fail a pickpocket check, but it seems that's not feasible given that natural 1s and rerolled dice don't get any bonus. It would have worked if they used the default D&D rule.

I get "Dice rerolled" in the log many times in a combat. Often twice in a row. Can't believe I'm actually getting that many 1s to reroll

Does it even work right now in the game? I've never seen my 1's reroll'd in combat log or in conversation ability checks
I can confirm, at least of this writing, that this absolutely DOES work, at least for attack rolls. I have very frequently seen the "dice rerolled!" message in the combat log after my halfling attacks. It's a very powerful racial passive.
