People complaining about this, are forgeting that at early act 3 you have acess to a ring that make yours enchant and ilusion spells, a extra action if you used you action to atk.

Probably not at useless as people claimed, considering bg3 treats on-hit effects as spell (or the tooltip description is just inaccurate).
So this give disadvantage on every saving throws effects from EVERY gear, some of them are quite powerful.

For those not clear on its usage: Its main benefit is cycling between weapons and spells *between turns*. Like commenters have said bellow, (1) off-hand attack plus spell and (2) Surge sequential actions are the other two more specific scenarios.

Can we use this passive with allied spell.
for example EK just normal attack and Wizard friend cast Hold to that target ?

if this skill is in level 3 EK , I have a lot of strategy mixing multiclass to make it shine.
but it in level 10....

If I do a Melee can I Cantrip say Shocking Grasp as an Extra Attack and then use a Bonus Action to Attack Twice again?
Else you don't have enough actions to use this properly unless you Action Surge.

Best you can do is go dual wield light weapons.
Use off hand attack then spell. Which is limited to lvl 2. Spells.
Hold person is probably he best spell but for this combo.
But it's still single target. And you can probably just kill them with 3 attacks. With lvl11 fighter.
It's very clunky to work with especially when it's this late in the game.

Pretty useless overall since you won't have access to powerful spells or upcasting. There could be one notable synergy with the ring called "Band of the Mystic Scoundrel" (act 3) that lets you cast an illusion or enchantment spell AFTER making a melee attack. So you could attack in melee to get eldritch strike and the ring effect, cast Hold Person or Phantasmal Force with a bonus action and then attack two more times (at lvl 11+ eldritch knight).

Would be interesting to use an offhand weapon bonus action to trigger this disadvantage before applying a save or suck spell like hold person.

Unless warcaster can let you use a cantrip as a bonus action this seems like bad synergy.

At level 10 it seems it is nice but your near end game and it might be better to take another warrior sub class seeing as the benefits are much sooner

Would Eldritch strike impose Dex saving throw disadvantage on the blindness saving throw of the absolute (blinding) spear? Or would that not count because it’s not a spell? Thanks!
Some commenters seem to be confused on this feature, here's some tips:
1) The effect lasts until the end of your NEXT turn. You can attack one turn, then on your next turn cast a spell with the bonus. You can offhand a weapon to trigger and cast a spell on the same turn as well, but you can also abuse Haste from pots or another spellcaster to really ramp this up. Haste also has great synergy with War Magic, btw, letting you pull off all your attacks then cantrip and attack again all on the same turn.
2) For those complaining that Eldritch Knight only gets LV 2 spells, if you're saying this I bet you also have a pouch filled with a hundred unused scrolls by the end of the game. If you're not dumping your Int, EK is a good scroll caster when they have reliable advantage like this. Honestly, what else are you using those Disintegrate scrolls for?
3) Given the above, even without pre-planning/haste you can attack, Action Surge, then pull off a spell/scroll with high success rate once each short rest.
