One moment pls... there's an important question: affects to scrolls?
i mean... do you remember that headband (17 int) that you can get from the ogres in blighted village?
The headband + scrolls + this = fireworks!
No scrolls? plan b: you're still a rogue with nasty spells (tasha laughter for example) or the usual Potion + venom/oil + hiding approach. May Be not as strong as assasin but still works.
I repeat: idk if works with scrolls, but if so... STONKS!

This ability is not a joke. Yes, level 9 rogues won't know many useful spells that force a ST naturally, but the abundance of magical equipment that grants high level spells is absurd. This feature makes bracers of telekinesis alone overpowered, not to speak about something like Nymph Cloack that grants dominate person.

I feel like they butchered this in 5e the pathfinder one at lvl 10 was able to finally add sneak attack damage to spells, I understand 5e is dialed down but if they even added half of the sneak attack damage that would be in my opinion a way to make this class more worth it

Nine level investment for a very conditional advantage/disadvantage modifier for low rank spells and no damage increase… in my opinion best this is used for is if you’re a mostly DEX Trickster with low INT. I guess you could sit in Fog to get better results, but you’ll still just be spamming Cantrips. It feels like there are so many better ways to synergize other classes to achieve better results in equal or less levels.

for people saying arcane trickster doesnt get good enough spells for this to be special, do rogue 10/wizard 2. you’ll get 3rd level spell slots and then just learn those better spells through scrolls. hide, lob a fireball
