Forged Items in Baldur's Gate 3 features items that can be Crafted using the Adamantine Forge at Grymforge. These items require Mithral Ore and a specific Mould for the desired item to be crafted. The Forge can be found in Grymforge (X: -569 Y: 252), and it must be activated first by placing a Mithral Ore in the Crucible and a Mould in the Mould Chamber. and then pulling the lever that hammers down the crucible. If you pull the lever without placing any items, the crucible will still be hammered, but the crucible won't be activated. If the whole platforms lowers down, this means that the forge was successfully activated.
The Adamantine Forge quest can be activated by talking to the Duergars found in Grymforge, mining boulders that are blocking a path. If you play your card correctly, the Duergar will reveal you that there's an Adamantine Forge that they are looking for. Follow The Adamantine Forge quest guide to complete the quest and find the forge.
The Adamantine Forge
Once the forge is activated, follow the next steps to forge an item in the Adamantine Forge.
- Place the Mithral Ore in the Crucible.
- Place the desired Mould in the Mould Chamber.
- Near the corner you can find a valve. Pull this valve, the level of lava will rise and you will be able to walk only over the circular platforms. The Grym will wake up and start a battle against you.
- Pull the lever that hammers the crucible like an anvil.
After completing this, by opening the Mould Chamber, you will find the forged item. The only item lost in this process is the Mithral Ore, but you will be able to recover the Mould in case you want to forge an item repeatedly.
Grym in Baldur's Gate 3
Once you pull the valve, a Construct named Grym will wake up and start to battle against your party. The Grym is resistant or immune to almost every type of damage and it has a large pool of life, so it's not recommended to combat against it directly.
The best way to defeat the Grym, is to bait it to walk over the crucible, and pull the lever that hammers it. Prepare your party for the battle before rising the level of lava. Place at least one member your party next to the lever and be ready to pull it. The rest of your party, specially the one that pulled the lava valve, should bait the Grym to the center.

Why do they keep doing this?
The sussur bark forge, oh can only make Dagger, Greatsword and Sickle of all thing???
And now here, Scimitar, Longsword, Hammer, Shield, Medium and Heavy armor.
Why The Limitation??
The Sussur Bark i can Sort of understand, but, the forge? that makes absolutely no damn sense.

Everyone is saying that forged items are underwhelming, but imo you can find a good use to them. For example, in Shadowcursed lands you encounter shadows that are resistent to melee damage, but with adamantine longsword on my hexblade Wyll I can simply bypass this.

You can get crit immunity on 3 characters by going with the shield/medium armor then giving the grym helm to your heavy armor user. For example Shadowheart w/shield, Lae'zael w/grym helm, and Karlach w/medium armor.

shield grants you a reaction ability to knock someone who hits you with melee prone w/ dex save
all the melee weapons are +1, ignore resistance for their damage types and autocrit on objects (for what purpose?)
also note that the shield inflicts reeling (-1 to attack rolls) when enemies miss you, while the armors inflict reeling when they actually land a hit on you. only works on melee attacks too
the shield is ok (+1 shields are arguably better, safeguard shield is arguably better), the medium armor is decent since it has high ac for a medium armor (but not the best), everything else is eh

You can use infernal iron to craft heavy armor at dammon in light inn
- Anonymous
There is also a helmet. This wiki is very bad at updating it seems

Medium armor is much higher AC than what I've found so far, used on Barbarian. The Heavy Armor is underwhelming compared to white Plate Armor you can find from Mountain Pass. Immunity to crit is nice though. With the helmet from the boss, you can have 3 characters immune to crit.

If anyone has reloaded saves to see what they each do can you please let us know?

You can craft 2, You just need to repeat all steps
1. Place Mold
2. Place ore
3. Use Lava valve
4. Use Smithy level
Also final version weapons got buffed
Plate mail have 18 ac now, reduces damage by 2, after getting hit enemy is reeling for 3 turns, enemies cant crit
Scale mail have 16 ac, reduces damage by 1,after getting hit enemy is reeling for 2 turns, enemies cant crit
shield have : if enemy miss he is reeling for 2 turns, shield bash as reaction, enemies can't crit
Someone below posted what mace has, others weapons follow same pattern (diamondsbane, lethal weapon, +1)
Sorry i don't want to change my language version to edit wiki properly, and don't have language skills to do so, but i hope my comment will help someone.

Can you only craft one now? i have 2 mithral ore, but It only lets me make 1

Adamantine Mace now has Diamondsbane (Always crits when hitting objects) and Lethal Weapon (Ignores Bludgeoning Resistance) and has +1 enchantment.

Buffed as of release, I've only tried the splint and the longsword so far:
The splint is now 18AC and has additional effects to reduce all incoming dmg by 2 and make you uncrittable.
The longsword doesnt have the reeling passive anymore but now ignores slashing resistance of the target, and always crits when attacking an object.
- Anonymous
The medium armor is good too if you value the reeling passive over the 1 AC of Gith Half Plate
- Anonymous
17 AC on the Heavy Armour, probably the only thing usable at this point into the EA. Still, only just as much AC as a Gith Breastplate on +2 Dex

it may seem like a let down now but these are masterwork and masterwork can be enchanted so maybe when the city releases we can find an enchanter and put what we want on the items and that would make it totally worth it
- Anonymous
Hope they buff these on full release right now only the heavy armor is worth having
- Anonymous
just want to add in just how massively underwhelming these rewards are
- Anonymous
Love the way to craft those itemes, sadly they are not worth it
- Anonymous
These are completely underwhelming for the effort required to get everything.

What a let down these are... All the same ability and not even +1...
The Scimitar is a solid martial dex weapon, with its bonus of ignoring resistance (not immunity) to slashing coming in handy in Act 2, with most enemies in Act 1 never having resistance-- this is the case for all forged weapons. Sword Bard, rogue, and dex fighters are *some* good examples of who can use this effectively.
The Mace is similar to the scimitar but for Strength users, but is also a good pact weapon for warlocks since it's not a martial weapon, as well as paladins and war cleric opting for melee combat with a shield. Can also be used to break objects that are normally immune to slashing.
Longsword is ideally used with two hands for strength characters, and has access to the Rush skill to make closing the distance better. It's not a bad option, especially when it comes to act 2 if you need a weapon to hit resistant enemies more effectively.
The shield is solid for front-liners who will be targeted more frequently, but it's still an alright shield for back lines who can still equip shields incase an enemy closes the distance to chance a hit on them, or for the protection to critical hits which can absolutely dumpster a character. The shield bash is also pretty alright for a reaction on characters who don't have a reaction yet.
Scale Mail is decent high AC for Act 1, good for the rest of Act 1 if you haven't finished the surface portion, but Act 2 has some very good competitive armour from the merchant for medium class if your party is level 5 or higher. It might be an alright choice if you have two medium armour characters in your party and the Scale Mail becomes a hand-me-down to the other medium armour character. Far from bad, 18AC is nothing to scoff at.
Splint Mail is fantastic for heavy armour however, with superb protection on front line fighters with a really high AC, and even works on those who multi-classed a caster to wear heavy armour (if they just wanted raw AC over the benefits of lighter armour-- or are doing warlock pact weapon). You can never go wrong with this choice either, because of the *extremely* high base sell value of 3800, meaning even when you do upgrade, you'll have a good sum of coin to fall back on. If you just need gold and don't care about any of the weapons, shield or armour, you can load up your coffers with just a couple of Splint Mail crafts to get yourself situated for Act 2 vendors.
