Gekh Coal Dialogue Options
Once approached, Gekh Coal will attempt to attack you.
- If you manage to convince him to not do it, you will learn that he is looking for the Boots of Speed stolen by Thulla. You can tell him you have the pair (if you actually do), and he will tell you to take his vessel to head to the Grymforge to give the boots back to Sergeant Thrinn.
- On the other hand, if you have already visited Spaw at the Ebonlake Grotto, he should have given you the quest Defeat the Duergar Intruders in which tasks you to defeat Gekh Coal and his crew in order to complete it.
- If you head to his position alongside Glut, there will not be any kind of dialogue between you, and he will order his crew to attack you.
- If you continue to converse with him, you have the option to proceed with the quest: Find the Missing Boots
Dialogue Choices:
- I could've killed you before you even noticed me, but didn't. Stand down.
- [RELIGION] Stand down - I'm a follower of the Absolute, just like you.
- [INTIMIDATION] Take your hand off that axe before you lose it.
- [PERSUASION] I can be discreet. No need for bloodshed.
- [FIGHTER] Fights tend to make quite a racket, if that's what you want to avoid.
- [ILLITHID] [WISDOM] Stand down. I am a True Soul.
- [BRANDED] Show him your brand.
- Attack him
- Turn to leave.
If you succeed any of the skill checks, he will let you live and you can continue to converse with him. You get an additional dialogue option if you were branded at the Goblin Camp, allowing you to bypass the checks for a peaceful outcome. Ask him what he is doing and this will update the journal for Find the Missing Boots. It is up to you whether you want to help or not.
- Got the boots right here.
- I'll help you
- I don't work for free.
- I'm not helping a slave-cacher.
- Your problems are your own - I'm leaving.
If you ask for a reward, he says to pick up the boots first, and then you can discuss your rewards.

Gekh Coal Notes and Tips
- Grants 60 XP when defeated.
I convinced him not to attack me by mentioning that I'm a fellow Duergar, and he said "Fine, you get one chance because of your blood." But when I refused to help a slave trader, he attacked. What an butthead.

Saw no mention of it in the article, so I thought it worth mentioning- characters who are branded by the Absolute get different related dialogue

Fun fact. If you get him and his cronies to fight the Spectator from the Iron Flask and he manages to kill it, then you fight him again after that fight, he will summon a SECOND wave of undead to fight you from the corpses he already summoned them from. The script to summon them just runs twice. So if he already has undead up from the previous fight, he will now have up to double, making for a very unfair fight on tactician. If you're going to use the Spectator to kill these guys, make sure you're helping out during the fight.

Guy seems bugged for me. He won't talk to me after my initial conversation

I believe his poison resistance is doubled (not normal). Upon examination the text says "Poison damage against this entity from magical and non-magical attacks is halved"
Does anybody know what gauntlets Gekh is wearing? I cannot find anything online, and they look like they go perfectly with the other drow armor you can find in the Underdark.
