Isobel is an NPC in Baldur's Gate 3. Isobel can be found at the Last Light Inn during Act II. Isobel is a High Half-Elf and Servant of Selune that maintains the Last Light Inn's protection from the Shadow Curse. There is a massive amount of NPCs in Baldur's Gate 3, and their ideals, needs and way of living are strictly related to the actions they perform during the course of the game. Their attitude towards you and your party may be affected by the deeds and decisions you and your party taken on.
She is the daughter of Ketheric Thorm and the lover of Aylin.

As usual, almost everything here is wrong.
Invisible doesn't help, they can open the doors and Protection from Evil and Light didn't seem to help either (this was all in the Inn).
It kind of seems like you aren't supposed to win here.

command him to drop his club and its instantly easy to save her

At the dialog options prior to the fight press the 'select character' button down the bottom right. and go to the rest of you team.
Have someone buff Isobel (Greater Invisibility works great. Other options include Feign Death (protects AND stops her moving), Warding Bond, Invisibility, Sanctuary, etc.). Put your team in position for the fight.
Then resume dialog and lol as Marcus tries to hit the invisible Isobel.

This dipshit will do everything in her power to get abducted. Very frustrating fight.
Every player can save Isobel with only skills/spells/items available to a party of level 4 to 5, even if this is their very first playthrough.
How so? Players can *naturally* stumble upon Isobel at level 5 to 6. This be even earlier (by level 4) if the player ignored the in-game warning when venturing into this region for the first time. So, technically, higher-level skills/spells are not needed.
Here is an example: Shadowheart (a perfect cleric - perfect right out of box - for the Tactician difficulty) can single-handedly protect/save Isobel using just a level 1 spell Sanctuary - possibly casting it 2 or 3 times - until the battle is over.
How so? Assuming you have never respec'ed her, Shadowheart can only naturally take actions after Marcus, Isobel, most of your other party members and all the winged horrors on site. If Isobel is wounded during the 1st round, just have Shadowheart cast Sanctuary on Isobel during her turn. That is enough to prevent Marcus (and possibly others) from attacking Isobel again during the 2nd round of the battle. The spell will only last until Isobel attacks again - if she chooses to heal herself, the spell can last 2+ turns. After Isobel attacks again, which immediately ends the Sanctuary spell, just have Shadowheart cast Sanctuary during her turn again.
Since this spell only uses a bonus action, it won't prevent Shadowheart from taking any action. Her best offensive spell for protecting Isobel is Spirit Guardians (available to her at level 5). All enemies in this battle attack in melee. If you have Shadowheart stay with Isobel, every enemy will be automatically hurt (possibly killed) by Spirit Guardians if they get very close to Isobel.
Simple party strategy (if you have Shadowheart): just talk to Isobel in a most natural way! Nothing else! That means, when the fight starts, your entire party will be naturally standing right next to Isobel, and Marcus will be all by himself facing your party + Isobel. During the 1st round, kill Marcus. Only if you can't kill him, should you consider the Sanctuary spell to prevent him from attacking Isobel again during the 2nd/next round.
Some combat stats (Tactician mode):
Marcus: level 6, uses Greatclub, race=aberration, initial health = 86+40 = 126.
Winged Horrors: level 3, initial health=41, can paralyze target.
Isobel: level6, initial health = 58.
I think this battle is balanced for a party of level 5. If you are level 6+, it's easier. If you are level 4 or under, it can be harder. (In my case, the battle was completely unexpected. But by the end of the 1st round, Marcus was already dead and Shadowheart was covering Isobel with Spirit Guardians. In the end, no Harper was badly injured or dead).
Saving Isobel can be a big mistake, however, roleplay-wise.

I saved her by using arcane lock on the doors to lock all the ghouls in the inn while I dealt with Marcus wingman. He was immune to phantasmal killer which disappointed me

I got to the scene of being told how well I did to get the nightsong and about taking down Last Light Inn and then im told Ketheric is displeased because I killed the selune cleric... EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T! I took her out and whats his name took her body and flew off. I thought it was strange I found his dead body at one point but figured it was a bug. The hell? Was I suppose to do none lethal? I thought since he took her in the cutscene it was fine. The hell?! All those hours for nothing?!

I see people saying you can kill Isobel as dark urge somewhere near act 2 end when nightsong is rescued without losing those in the Inn and all, seen videos, get it, BUT when i leave the Inn at the act 2 start butler immediatelly shows up next long rest saying i missed the opportunity to kill isobel and now i have to kill a companion. do people really go entire act 2 without long rests or can i still kill her later despite butler and journal saying that it's "too late" or w/e?

Pouring one out for all the homies here like me hoping she could be a companion.

that moment when you wish you could swap out your edgelord companion for a mean girl companion

It's kind of cheesy, but it seems that Winged Horrors don't know how to open doors.

Warning: We used Banish on Isobel to protect her and the game immediately cutscened to a cinematic as if she had died.

One more for the "random NPCs that would be cool to have in the party"

I killed her as the butler requested then I blamed it on Marcus and Jaheira joined my party non the wiser xD we'll see if she ever realises that I am more evil than General Throm >:D

To save her in the inn, try casting AOE spells like darkness, hypnotic pattern, stinking cloud..etc to disrupt enemies from hitting her. Kill demons with DPS character, heal isobel with healer characters

Okay but who is she? I showed up and they were hostile so I killed the whole camp.

She gets killed before I even act most of the time on tactician. 2 hits from the winged horror and shes down. :C
I had good enough sense to save before talking to the glowing lady, in case me talking to her disrupted her light ritual. Turned out it was interrupted in a different way, by a surprise visitor and his minions that bursted her down in a round. But with this foresight, it allowed me to prepare for this engagement more thoroughly. As an abjuration specialist, I noticed that Marcus was considered an aberration, and his minions undead, making Protection from Evil and Good a very potent and accessible abjuration spell to improve her defense by imposing disadvantage on all attacks against her for its duration. It should be noted, however, at the time of the ambush, she is wearing no armor, having only a base AC of 11. This makes even low rolls hit anyways, regardless of disadvantage. It would be smart to also cast on her a Mage Armor and/or Shield of Faith. As mentioned, Sanctuary is also a good option for negating all attacks against her, but it basically only lasts one round. I really suggest you have at least that and Protection from Evil and Good with Mage Armour, just to make the engagement comfy enough to alleviate potential disadvantageous starting positions or initiatives.

Casting Spells that prevent her from getting knocked didnt work

Completing the dark urge quest step involving her just after everyone has left the inn for the tower will avoid losing jaheira as an ally, however you will lose the blacksmith. There's a bug when you do this that causes allies from the town and a certain person who comes to your camp to run in fear from you from this point onwards, but they do still remain friendly and will talk to you as normal (after you catch them).

I saved her at the inn pretty handily. Just spam down the flying dude quick. I just long rested before then unleashed everything on him. If they all gank her right away before you get your turn just reload.

The taunt ability she has seems really effective in battle is there anyway we can get that ability?
