Mol Notes and Tips

  • If you bother Mol too much before Investigate the Beach is completed and do not leave when she demands it, she will not talk with you anymore and other Tiefling kids will neither.
  • An item Contract: Mol unreadable for the player is found in Raphael's vault in the House of Hope, suggesting she made a deal with him back in the Shadowlands when you see them interact.
    • She reveals this was what allowed her to escape the cursed lands unharmed, and in the grander scheme of things will help her become the guild leader one day. She is not interested in having the contract destroyed; she knew what she was signing up for.
    • After signing her contract, Mol no longer wears an eyepatch, implying restoring her eye was a part of the deal.
    • Mol doesn't take it too kindly to learn you may have slain her eldritch patron, as that means he won't be fulfilling any of the promises made to her.
  • If you gain her favour through the game and meet her later in Baldur's Gate, she may become one of your allies at the end of the game.
    • Passive boon: All companions gain the ability to cast Rays of Fire (a non-spell variant of Scorching Ray), and fire damage towards them is reduced.

So the first time I found her in the hideout was by succeeding a Perception check after talking to Donni for the first time. My character isa powerful and kindhearted barbarian with a brick for a brain, so when she told me to leave, I listened to her and got out by the time she got to four. Afterwards I talked to the little kids who try to rob you, and since I failed a perception check (again), I was told to go back and talk to her. Here I encoutnered a weird bug: she continued her countdown as I approached her and got to 1 before I initiated our conversation. She gave me the quest to steal the Idol of Sylvanus, and after the conversation she finished her countdown and ran away. I continued on to save Arabella and when I went around to talk to Zevlor, I got arrested by a tiefling guard for messing with the kids, and the quest had apparently already been completed as Mol no longer wanted to talk to me.

So I ralled back to an earlier save cause that was a massive load of bullshit, I saved Arabella first, and since I failed the Perception check after Donni disappears I came across Mirkon, I killed the harpies after some struggle, and although Mol doesn't hate me now the Investigate the Beach quest is stuck on "Find Mol" -_-

I played a good hearted oaf who has done everything right by her. Saved her friends, invested gold in her guild idea, got her the idol of sylvanus, saved the teiflings. But I couldn't help her with her chess game against Raph because, being an oaf, I simply didn't know the game. She then became weirdly bitter and detestable. Awful character.

Is there a way to kill this little **** while leaving the other kids alive? Most of them are ok, and being taken advantage of by this jerk kid.

One of her dialogues at the last light inn broke my paladin oath of devotion. Specifically, after passing a persuasion check she tells you she made deal with Raphael in hope of becoming guild leader in Baldur’s Gate. Choosing the last response(applauding her ambition) breaks your oath. Thought it was a glitch, reloaded and it happened again. Other dialogue branches are fine.

"An item Contract: Mol is found in Raphael's vault in the House of Hope, suggesting her interactions with you were part of his plans."

Uh...Or more likely it suggests that Mol made a deal with Raphael to get out of Moonrise Towers.

Anyone else find it weird that saving Arabella and Mirkon gets overshadowed by the fact that one guard slapping the kid who stole his locket? Like, I saved two of your gang's lives and all she remembers is the guard event.

2nd characters. This little **** did the countdown thing. I laughed, left and...aggro \ go to jail?
                  Um, wow.
                  F8.
                  Stealth.
Arrow into the little ****'s eyes from a mile away. Laugh and leave. Might come back to blow up the corpse with an explosive later too. Little bastard.

If youre stuck on the 'Find Mol' for 'Investigate the Beach' even if you found her already its because you have to do the 'Save Arabella' Quest first

                    • Anonymous

So during the Last Light Inn, she gets kidnapped. I didn't see any option to try and find her or rescue her. I know she had a talk with Raphael so I assume it was part of his plan with her deal.

                      • Anonymous

I think I broke her countdown by picking her up and hurling her into a crate.
We need an intimidate option to convince her not to **** with you. A bratty child trying to rob/extort Karlach, a barbarian tiefling with a flaming greatsword, just kinda breaks SoD.

                        • Anonymous

The fact that this continues even after you've saved them is an insult. What moron thought that was a good idea. "Here, I know you've saved me, and everyone else here, but this twelve year old says you have to die, so.... sorry." Give me a mother%$#@^ing break....

                            "ACT 2" ALERT SPOILER

This is the sequence of the mission looking for Mol.
                            Here are the steps:
                            1. Watch out for Mol.
We discover that Mol, the leader of the young tiefling pickpockets, has disappeared. We should help them find her.
                            2. Look for Mol in the Mind Flayer colony.
…We found Mol's eyepatch in Balthazar's necrotic lab. It was bloody but intact. Maybe he's still somewhere in the Mind Flayer Colony.
…There was no trace of Mol in the Mind Flayer Colony's Tadpole Center. She must have found a way out of this damned place.
                            3. Look for Mol in Moonrise Towers.
…We asked Balthazar about Mol, but he claimed he didn't remember her. With any luck, it will appear once Moonrise Towers is safe from the cult of the Absolute.
,,,We defeated Ketheric and watched a fleet of nautiloids leave for Baldur's Gate. If Mol doesn't appear in Moonrise Towers, it's possible that he escaped in one of them and made it to the city.
                            4. Look for Mol on the way to Baldur's Gate.
The powers behind the cult of the Absolute have abandoned Moonrise Towers, but Mol has yet to appear. We must not lose hope, perhaps we will find it on the way to Baldur's Gate.
                            5. Look for Mol in Baldur's Gate.
Mattis heard that Mol made it safely to Baldur's Gate. This young crime boss-to-be is proving incredibly difficult to track down, now we just have to find her in a bustling city.
                            6. Find Mol in Baldur's Gate.
We found the contract that Mol signed with Raphael to escape the clutches of the Absolute. If we bring him to you, any debt you owe to Raphael can be wiped out.
                            7. -We find Mol not only alive but thriving, climbing the ranks in the Guildhall.
                            8. -We never managed to find Mol. We must move on. (strange)
Mol is missing in act 2 after being kidnapped by the demon.

                            • Anonymous

During my evil play through, I stood my ground when she threatened me and started counting down to 10, ordering me to leave. She ran away after ending the count and now I can't move 5 feet through Druid Grove, before being interrogated by a guard that I started threatening children (rumour started by Mol). Which is fine, in and by itself. But when you pass the persuasion check with a guard to leave you off the hook, they reset their behaviour after 15 seconds. Prompting the accusation again and again, where I either roll a 20 or above to pass the persuasion check or go to prison. This makes going through Druid Grove an absolute slog.

I understand what they were going for, but this short term memory loss by the same guards I just passed a persuasion check with, feels more like a bug than intended. So readers beware.

You also have to make sure Barth (one of the mercenaries from the gate) doesn't strike Meli, who stole his locket.
