Insane how the worst character in the game is in the same quest with one of the absolute best. Barcus deserves better bruh

Talk to him while he is prison. Let him bust himself out by getting him his hammer (from the warden's office?). Then open the gates to go in and basically follow them to the boats.
It's worth it for the help he offers in Act 3. Although he is quite insufferable then, as well.

Dude is such an insufferable ass. I'd use his hammer for a personal forging session on his nads if I could. Also, that aside... the quest is heavily bugged at the moment. If you DON'T give him his hammer, then he acts as if he left without you and you were behind bars. Despite... staying behind, intentionally. If you use the lever in the Wardens office, he doesn't actually leave. If you go with him, the quest doesn't update. The only way I found to get progress in this quest is to talk to him, give him his hammer, and then follow him as close as possible to the boat, do NOT break the chains yourself, then let him go to the Last Light Inn, where upon, you IMMEDIATELY Map/Fast Travel to Last Light, and have your conversations. I feel like there is or SHOULD be A route here where Barcus comes with and Wulbren isn't a complete knob, I have not been able to find it yet.

If you pickpocket Barcus Wroot (the Deep Gnome tied to the mill in the blighted village) he holds a "Bloody Amulet" with Wulbrens name engraved on the back.
Theres also a book that mentions Wulbren by name in his inventory as well.

I don't know how it got bugged, but after saving him from the prisons he ALSO died beneath them? So my quest log says "Wulbren has returned to Last Light, etc." AND "Wulbren is dead, etc". I submitted a bug report, but yeah. He's both alive and dead, I suppose.
There's always an ******* NPC you regret helping in games. I thought it would be Rolan, but this guy, this guy is the worst. It sucks that in other playthroughs I will also save him just for Barcus' sake, if it weren't for him he would still be rotting in that prison, even after murdering every single cultist.
