Sovereign Glut Quests
Sovereign Glut Dialogue Options
You encounter Sovereign Glut in the Underdark. Your interactions with him will be recorded in the journals for Avenge Glut's Circle.
- If you choose to complete his quest, he will want to see the bodies. However, as soon as Glut sees the body he's dissatisfied and wishes to take Spaw's circle. Glut is blinded by his hunger for power and wishes to devour the colony whole. If you take Glut's side you will need to return to the colony and kill everyone including Spaw.
- Alternatively, you can also take Glut to Spaw and talk to the ruler of the Myconid Circle. You can then choose to announce that you will depose Spaw in favor of Glut. Then if you kill only Spaw without hurting anyone else, Glut take control of the colony and you don't have to kill anyone else. If you take Glut's side you will receive Featherlight Boots and Ring of Fire as rewards.
Glut is a sovereign without a circle and he wishes to claim his power back. If you choose the second option, Glut will respond with its own picture of his own home. He will continue to tell you that duergar destroyed his people, and left without a circle. He wishes to join you to help cleans the Duergar rot. He offers to raise the dead and you will have command of it. You can respond with one of the options below:
- Are you sure? It's going to be dangerous.
- Join me? That depends- can you make yourself useful?
- Very well- you may join me.
- I don't need your help.
- I'm not traveling with some overgrown mushroom.
- Leave.
If you accept his help, then you will be given a new quest which is Avenge Glut's Circle. After agreeing to help Sovereign Glut, you will now go to seek the Duergar threatening the peace of the Myconid Colony.
Following this walkthrough, we will keep our word to Sovereign Glut and Thulla. You can now return to the Myconid Colony and inform Glut that the Duergar has been taken care of. He demands to see the bodies, and you can walk back to the area to show him. You can invite him to your party as one of the options.
Once he sees the bodies he wants you to take a side and choose to protect the poltroon.
- Make it worth my while.
- Why not. Spaw's time is done.
- I'll have no part of this.
- If you're so eager for blood, Glut, then let me give it to you.
If you choose dialogue option 1 or 3, Astarion will approve. Siding against Glut will result in combat. This will also complete Avenge Glut's Circle.
Sovereign Glut Notes and Tips
- If you part ways with Sovereign Glut at any point before completing his questline he will be in the Myconid circle near the waterfall, beneath the sovereigns platform.
- Sovereign Glut can make spore 'undead' followers. Using that ability on dead hook horrors or the Bulette, for example, can really make the duergar quest and other explorations way easier. If Sovereign Glut dies while having a spore servant, the servant will turn to passive/neutral.(tested while having the bulette)

If you kill gehk coal before he gets a chance to talk to the player; when you animate him as a spore zombie glut becomes hostile to the player, but only when he's follower in the party. This makes the underdark significantly harder because you can't just abuse glut's haste spores to beat everything in one round.

i just discovered he can combine mushrooms...need to investigate this...

I hope someone makes a mod with his spore zombie skill being a skill that can be learned by the player.

Is it possible to get de spore follower skill? The spore zombies from the druis were a letdown

Did something change in an update because I, like the previous poster can't start this quest, chose second answer, Glut speaks and then dialog ends, can't initiate any other dialog.

Can't start his quest. He just says he 'grows among them but is not part of them' and then ends the dialog

If ur gonna kill him dont do it at the colony they don’t let you loot his corpse/ you have to hide and do it but there are always eyes on you smh
Glut can actually resurrect any corpse you can pick up and drop in the Underdark. To test this, I put True Soul Gut's corpse in the Underdark and had Glut use Animating Spores to resurrect her. The only thing is Glut will aggro if you just drop a corpse in front of him for some reason. So I had Karlach ungroup and drop the corpses to test in a different area. It's interesting to see what abilities some of these bosses have and use them yourself.

This mf wants me to kill his neighbor to conquer his colony after having me do his dirty work. A bad choice for someone in smiting distance.

I accepted Glut's quest to take over Spaw's place, but I thought I would be able to out him to Spaw, but the only option I am given is to attack him, so isn't there a way to double cross Glut?

I now have a Bulette roaming around my camp while I'm on an adventure lol
Went down to the fish guys before camping to see if Glut would follow; he did. Followed me to camp, too, with his Spore minion.
Well, seems Shadow and Lae'zel had a "misunderstanding" lol, and having the cup full with Lae'zel I didn't bother to prevent it from happening (not using her either).
After all this, Glut starts a cutscene; "Blood has been spilt on holy ground!" and attacks me :'D
The whole camp joins in (vs Glut) including the Bulette. Now the Bulette is in my camp (and I expect another fight IN camp next time I go rest lol)
Oh and Glut's corpse seem to leave camp with us :P

If you choose to stay "neutral" (option 2) his spore minion will fight WITH you (did for me at least) but upon reloading save it was hostile. Before loading, it was green (ally) even after Glut was dead.
If siding with Glut you do NOT have to "kill everyone", just Spaw.
If people have issues with multiple betrayals, it may be because of some order you do things IN the Myconid colony (instead of outside).
I recommend "hiring" Glut as early as possible, to make everything easier (including dealing with the beach Duregars).
You can also visit Grymforge before all this, and the Slave Hunter Duregars don't seem to be affiliated with a faction.
You do unfortunately not get XP from killing i.e. Bulette a second time (after being turned into a Spore Servant).

Confirmed that you can spore the Drows (tried it on the guy with Hook Horror "minions") and keep their spells etc. Of course this is the last thing I do in the entire Underdark, lol. Oh well (used Hook Horror for the beach fight, was fun).

Word of Advise. If you bring a Bulette back to life. Dismiss it before saying no to Glut.....
- Anonymous
If you encounter the "bug" where he will stop talking to you after a few lines, try to look for a second sovereign - "Spaw". After you have spoken with both of them, Glut should offer you his quest.

I killed Gekh Coal before he could act, then raised him as a Spore Servant. I tried having him use him animate dead spell, but the stupid zombies rezzed as enemies to me. After the fight, I sided against Glut, but Gehk was still allied with me against Glut. Just goes to show, you can't trust the undead.

I revived bulette and minotaur and think the former is more powerful. Did anyone try reviving spectator?

After being named Peace Bringer and killing Glut, you became King Spirit after talk with Spaw

Be stealthy when you get to yhe Underdark and reach the myconid colony, recruit Glut then use him to kill enemies leaving the duergar ones for last, he can revive even the minotaurs and bulette and have them fight for you, very OP
Strong characters can carry bodies to a certain size in thier inventory, wonder if you can just go collect some bodies from above ground and experiment with his ressurecting power
