Torch is one of the Simple Melee Weapons in Baldur's Gate 3. In BG3, each type of weapon has different ranges, damages, and other features (Finesse, Versatile, Dippable, etc). Characters need to master certain Proficiency before using a weapon, and sometimes gain a special Actions while holding it.
A deep oily smell wafts from this crude tree branch.

An interresting thing to know is that the torch's fire damages part counts as a burn.
So it applies any effect procing on conditions, even tho the burn effect doesn't star on the target.
Allows fun heat builds too with the cinder shoes...

Can confirm. I dual wielded them with Lae'zel, and was the best weapon for that until I got the blue quality single handed str weapons. Best thing is burning also increases the fire damage. Arguably overpowered.

I do have a tip for this weapon.
Light it on fire and it will dead an additional 1d4 dmg for an infinite amount of time, wich make it better than a longsword/shield build since his min dmg is 2 and max 8
+Light the area
+Still a common weapon
(Great for cleric build)
Apparently you can drop these on the ground and use the "dip" bonus action on it to light your weapon on fire. So if you want to use some other weapon instead of a torch, you can still get that 1d4 fire damage and burning effect, it just lasts a limited number of turns.
