Sussur Dagger is one of the Melee Weapon Weapons in Baldur's Gate 3. In BG3, each type of weapon has different ranges, damages, and other features (Finesse, Versatile, Dippable, etc). Characters need to master certain Proficiency before using a weapon, and sometimes gain special Actions while holding it.
Smoke like whorls of sussur sap darken the metal of this dagger's blade and silence its victims.

Has anyone found this dagger appearing in the main-hand, when it's placed in the off-hand? I have a shortsword in Astarion's main-hand and the sussur dagger in the off-hand, and the dagger appears in the main-hand, along with the shortsword; as if he's just holding a wad of blades in his main-hand! When I swap-out the shortsword for another dagger (still main-hand), the sussur dagger still seems to remain in the main hand (it doesn't appear in the off-hand, anyway), but it's hard to tell because the two daggers are drawn in the exact same space. However, if I leave the sussur in the main-hand, and move either of the other weapons to the off-hand, the off-hand weapon appears positioned incorrectly. In the case of the dagger, it floats halfway between the normal spot and the wrist, and kind of _through_ the hand. It looks super janky. In the case of the shortsword though, he holds in a completely unique way: vertical, against the chest, as though frozen in a salute gesture.

Seeing a lot of contradictory comments around silence. I can't silence anyone when I throw it. I check the logs and it doesn't mention any saving throws either.

Can we use any "special" dagger, like a simple +1 one, to make this or does it absolutely have to be a basic dagger?
I tried using the "Polished Dagger" (found near the harpies) which, stat-wise is the exact same as regular daggers (but different name and descript.) and it wouldn't let me

This dagger has the Thrown trait so... barbarian berzerker+ fighter eldricht knight= silence them all

I found this weapon to be quite fun.
My warlock uses baneful in the main hand, sussur dagger off-hand, to inflict bane + silence on melee hits.
Boots of Stormy Clamour to decrease enemy attack and saving throws upon inflicting a condition.
Helmet of Arcane Acuity increase own spell attack throws as well as spell save DC.
Cool combo overall. Can get up to +6 Spell save DC in 1 turn (so +5 remaining next turn). Proceed to cast something like slow or even hold person on multiple targets and then have a fighter or barbarian beat the everloving crap out of them.

Pretty low DC. If struggling which to choose Greatsword or Dagger, consider that later on your fighters will want to wield faaaar superior strength weapons. Meanwhile if you are looking for a finesse weapon for a low str cleric/bard/ranger, this can be a nice option so I def recommend the dagger over the greatsword
Some people say the silence effect doesn't work if the dagger is equiped on the offhand. No, this is not true. After more test, I found that this will apply 2 rounds of silence when your attack actually hits and there is fixed (I hope this is a bug) DC 12 CON save. If the target failed that, the silence will apply. You'll have to test more times and let the silence happens to see the battle log of this additional effect, when the target successfully passed the CON save, there is a log entry but doesn't show the DC level.
Throwing or wearing it but use other weapon/method to attack doesn't work tho.

When I click on the [Light] property link for this weapon, I'm directed to the evocation cantrip by the same name. I just wanted to read up on the rule of weapon types etc. but guess this wiki is kinda unpolished this early after release still?

Not sure if they changed it or this page is just mistaken but I just made the dagger and it was a 1d6+1

Very inconsistently silences targets that it's thrown at. Seems to be like 50/50, not sure if it's a bug or not.

DOES NOT SILENCE as an off-hand weapon, wish I knew that before...

For some reason when trying to throw this weapon it's using your strength modifier instead of dexterity for the attack roll. Either the thrown+finesse mechanic is broken or this knife is. Haven't tested with other knifes yet, might update on this

It seems it’s lacking here that sussur deals silence to the target… a good way to reduce to silence a warlock or a priest.
If you're debating which sussur weapon to go with, choose the dagger. Why? Cause you can throw it and nearly all characters are proficient in daggers. Sickle is a close second cause there aren't many and if you're doing a themed build maybe you like it. Greatsword can easily be outclassed by many other two handed weapons later in the game. Dagger at least stays consistent as a solid projectile to throw early in a fight at a caster, get your tank to pick it up and as a free action send it to whatever character you want from the inventory screen.
