Drakethroat Glaive is one of the Glaive Weapons in Baldur's Gate 3. Drakethroat Glaive is a powerful glaive for Dragonborn characters that gives disadvantage to enemies on their saving throws against racial breath weapon. In BG3, each type of weapon has different ranges, damages, and other features (Finesse, Versatile, Dippable, etc.). Characters need to master certain Proficiency before using a weapon, and sometimes gain special Actions while holding it.
Kereska, the draconic goddess of arcane knowledge, gifted this glaive to a dragonbom when facing off against a group of carbuncular spiders. How their arachnid legs curled and blackened before that night's dark business was done!

While you can definitely use it to buff a stronger weapon, I prefer to just stick to the glaive itself. It's a beautiful weapon, and with the buff it becomes a +3. Sure, applying it to something like Balduran's giantslayer would be objectively stronger. But by this point in the game, my Paladin is already 1 or 2 shotting most enemies. And the extra reach is really nice

op...one the best items in the game
you just use to get a free buff on a better weapon, doesnt need to actually use it

If you use this with an element that already exists on the weapon (choosing cold for Mourning frost, lightning for a bound charge-bound warhammer) the tooltip won't show the extra damage on the item, but when you attack with it you'll deal the extra d4 of damage so don't worry when you don't see it on the item after casting. It bundles into the same attack, so with Mourning frost for example, it'll be 2d4+1 and not 1d4+1+1d4+1 unfortunately.

Grrr I'm so mad. I got this on my 1st play through. Now on my 2nd play through I killed Roah Moonglow in Act 1 Goblin camp, not realizing she's the one who sells this in Act 2. Drakethroat Glaive is one of the most powerful items in the game because of what other's have mentioned. Pro-Tip and all, do NOT kill Roah Moonglow in Act 1 Goblin Camp.

Sorcerer can twin cast this with 3 sorcery points, giving +1 and 1d4 element damage to yourself and a buddy. lmao. So for example, you can imbue +1 onto the Halberd of Vigilance on the ground, and then your buddy Wyll the Lockadin with a pact bound Charge bound warhammer, and now your party has 2 members with +3 weapons with multiple damage riders as soon as you get to Act 2 Moonrise tower.
This is a must get weapon.

You can imbue any weapon with this. Just drop it on the ground, cast, remove drakethroat, pick up and equip the other (now imbued) weapon. Very overpowered as the actual spell is a Level 3 concentration, so this is a bargain at ~2400 gold, requiring no concentration, castable on anything, and not requiring you to use the glaive except for the initial cast.

If you want to Imbue your ranged weapon you can, just click on it so its equipped when you cast this. Unfortunately I haven't found a way to cast this on another melee weapon, only ranged.

"your dragonborn breath weapon"
Is it referencing the weapon itself or the Dragonborn SPELL? (cantrip, ability, whatever, it is not a WEAPON... either it is a breath attack or it is a weapon, a weapon is a tool that is made)
Unless there's something I'm not getting here

I could have sworn this was a non concentration spell and lasted until long rest at one point? Is it true it requires concentration, because that kinda sucks.
