Paleoak is one of the Simple Versatile Weapons in Baldur's Gate 3. In BG3, each type of weapon has different ranges, damages, and other features (Finesse, Versatile, Dippable, etc). Characters need to master certain Proficiency before using a weapon, and sometimes gain a special Actions while holding it.
Infused with Silvanus' strength, these staves are gifted to Faithwardens who act in defense of nature.
Paleoak Location & Where to Find
- Location: Druid Grove
- Quest: Investigate Kagha. In order to do this, you must be a Druid to become Faithwarden. You have to persuade Kagha and spare her life. Finish Investigate Kagha before Rescue the Druid Halsin. (Note that if you kill the Goblin leaders fist, you will not be able to do this Quest. Take into account that there's NO SPECIAL REWARD from her if you are not a Druid and spare her)
- Faithwarden's Vines: Vines sprout from the ground, turning it into difficult terrain and possibly Entangling creatures within.
- Faithwarden's Stride: Druid vines cannot Ensnare you and do not count as dificult terrain.

This thing is bad. It isn't any better for melee than what I already use, a +1 staff. It should allow something other than an ability that happens once per long rest.

Not sure why it says this is a Versatile Weapon but its only a 2 handed, rather disappointing as it would have been an awesome item for a shield and club Shillelagh build.
This thing is bad. I am not sure why it is a blue, the traits are not all that useful, certainly not any more so than the +1 staff I am already using. And the once per long rest Faithwarden's Vines is just weak. At least allow me to cast a couple spells per long rest, like a Barkskin or Fairy Fire.
Faithwarden's Stride isn't much better either. All in all, for the effort, this staff really isn't all that good. Even throwing a simple +1 and adding like +1 or +2 elemental damage of some sort would be better than what it is now.
