Sussur Greatsword is one of the Martial Two-Handed Melee Weapons in Baldur's Gate 3. In BG3, each type of weapon has different ranges, damages, and other features (Finesse, Versatile, Dippable, etc). Characters need to master certain Proficiency before using a weapon, and sometimes gain special Actions while holding it.
Sussur roots extend from this sword's hilt into the blade itself. It yearns to drink magic, silencing every creature it strikes.

Did the weapon/icon for this change recently or did I did I download a mod that inadvertently changed it? (nothing I have says anything about it but)

I think people are overly hating this. Compared to the other greatswords in act 1, it's probably the 2nd or 3rd best (not counting Silver Sword of the Astral Plane).
Tyr's shield of faith is nice, but takes up your concentration slot (which makes it pretty unremarkable for barbarians, or any martial/spellcaster hybrid who could be concentrating on something else such as bless, hunter's mark, hex, haste, etc.)
Jorgoral has a really nice slam ability but requires lining up and can hit your allies, + it's once per short rest.
Everburn is obviously not that good because you have a lot of ways to get dipped effects on your weapon regardless and this will have better hit chance.
conc. free guarantied silence on any enemy you hit is pretty ****ing nice. Completely shuts down Ethel or the Vlakkith aligned Githyanki Paladins you fight towards the end of act 1 through early into act 3.

Have Lae’zel bind the GS so she can throw it at casters and silence them at range.

Does anyone know what the DC on the silence effect is? I used this sword for a while and it seemed like the chance of it working on an actual spellcaster was very low. Good effect if it does work but I eventually switched because the effect never seemed to work when I really needed it.

I went all the goddamn way through the **** realm just to come back and craft... poop sword. Fitting. Use Shadowheart's silence cantrip, it's ten times better than this hot garbage. Or just, I dunno, throw hammers at mages like you should.

Wasn't worth the effort to craft this. Same damage as Sword of Justice with a worse effect. Maybe worth using if I'm fighting a group of 5 mages instead of any attack-based enemies, but I don't think I've seen a single fight like that so far. Maybe you would prefer this sword if you're a paladin trying to concentrate on a spell other than Tyr's Protection?

Fun fact. There are two types of basic Greatsword. One with a leather wrapped on the sword near the cross guard, one without it.
No matter which one you use. The cut scene will show as the one with the leather wrapped, and both outcome of the Sussur Greatsword will be the same.

note that this sword's effect is bugged and will also cause the enemy to be immune to thunder damage. So if you follow this up with a Thunderclap, they'll suffer no damage.

If you're a Pact of the Blade Warlock, using this sword with [Bind Pact Weapon] gives you proficiency and applies your Charisma modifier to both attack rolls and damage rolls. That combined with it's weapon enchantment gives me a total of +8 bonus to attack rolls and +5 to damage rolls at level 5. The damage is 7-17.
Also, one thing not noted here is that there's a saving throw for the Silence effect, sadly.

Is there any 2H weapon better than the Sussur Greatsword?
Better dmg than most, silence, pommel strike that uses bonus action and causes daze.
Been using this GS for very long, can't find anything better.

I'd rather get the dagger for my rogue. This is kinda useless to be equipped by your tank. most of the caster is at the back of the enemy lines. You don't want your tank to go at the back of the enemy lines. They should remain their position as your frontliner. Whereas your Rogue/Ranger can do sneak attacks/be invisible to target the enemies caster.

I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong; I put a greatsword in it and there's no special things to it.
It either changed with the final release or it's bound to a level because the GS I got is rate, 2d6+6, enchanted +1 and silences on hit

Same as the daggger , reduce to silence the target when hit succefully
It's not listed on the weapon but it appears to have a hidden effect of "Silences enemies on Hit". I gave my Sussur Greatsword to Lae'zel and during combat I noticed that her opponents got the "Silenced" condition when she hit them with the weapon. Not sure if it's a "Chance to Hit" or that enemies have to make a saving throw. Needs more testing. :)
A magical +1 weapon with "Silence on Hit" sounds pretty potent; especially when fighting enemy spellcasters.

That's a lot of work for a +1 sword. I already had one of those since the Grove.
Weapon Icon looks different now. No mods installed.
