Shattered Flail is one of the Simple Melee Weapons in Baldur's Gate 3. In BG3, each type of weapon has different ranges, damages, and other features (Finesse, Versatile, Dippable, etc). Characters need to master certain Proficiency before using a weapon, and sometimes gain special Actions while holding it.
A bundle of bones and blood - and a soul-piercing demonic presence - is all that remains of the Flind's flail. Your reckon it would make a decent club with a particularly nasty bite.

Did some testing, neither does Sarevoks helmet help nor Omeluums ring. My theory is that there is no roll if you go mad, you just go instantly mad. Because of that Omeluums ring doesn't help with advantage. For Sarevoks helmet i don't know, by description it should work.

I wonder can Sarevok's Horny Helmet https://baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com/Sarevok's+Horned+Helmet prevent the madness?

Soo OP, that should be nerfed, i think.
btw good choice for monk weapon

Absolutely 100% one of the best weapons in the game all the way up to Act 3, maybe end of act 2. Slap this thing on any extra atk character and its extremely good.
Maddening effect goes away on combat end so with proper management your char will never go mad.
Best setup is Kalach, bear heart with medium armor. Resist to all but psychic, high AC, healing multiple times a turn with reckless atks. She can solo most fights in the game.

unfortunately you can't get Flind to drop the original; when disarmed he just immediately picks it back up

Important note to those who have this weapon. It is absolutely broken with 2 things. Multiple attacks. Periapt of wound closure. I have this on a Wildbeast barbarian, drink a potion of speed, every single hit you get heals the max 6, meaning that you regain 24 health a turn if you hit all your attacks (and have multiattack) which is easy with reckless attack.

I'm not sure if there is something special you have to do to get him to drop it, I got it the first time that I played through the game when I convinced him to eat himself, but the second time I played through I just killed him myself and it did not drop. Has anybody else experienced this? I killed him and went to loot him and he was simply empty

Casting “remove curse” on it can remove the maddening effect?

Fyi the proc from this weapon doesn't activate healing items procs (herbalist gloves, broodmother's revenge, hellriders pride or the whispering promise).

This is insanely OP if you are a wizard/eldritch knight and have access to the magic missile necklace, it heals you on each proc. It also doesn't need to be the primary equipped item, I have my light xbow out on my half-wood elf wizard 90% of the time and always get healed. Also I think this item is currently bugged as I has never got the 'maddened' status.

I don't know if its intended that way but as Ranger I have this one + shield as secondary and I always heal on every attack, ranged, melee or thrown
imagine fighting a bunch of spiders throw an Alchemist fire and heal for every one you hit
called a flail in name, a club in description, and is neither of those
