About throwing damage -
A. Throwing always apply as single hand damage. For ie, like any thrown weapon, this spear apply 1d6. Not 1d8.
! - But "Returning Pike" doesn't exists single hand number on the system, therefore it applies double hand damage which is 1d10.
B. Weapons that have additional magical damage does not apply when throwing. For ie, "Ritual Dagger of Shar" have +1d4 Necrotic additional magical damage but it is not applied when throwing.
! - Expect particularly descripted "-when thrown" in weapon description. Only a few exists like "Nyrulna" and this "Lightning Jabber".
Therefore Lightning Jabber becomes 1d6 + 1d4. Only 0.5 average damage higher than Returning Pike.
But there is also tricky way you can get damage boost.
1) Feats "Dual Wielder"
2) Fighting style "Dueling"
3) Equip any one hand weapon with thrown weapon (main/off hand doesn't matter)
With these 3 conditions at the same time, throwing weapon get +2 damage. Effects on weapon in the other hand also works. For ie, STR increase on "Club of Hill Giant Strength" works and matches with this technique.

I was able to get 2 of these, I snuck up to this area and only saw the chief and killed him from range before any of the others became aggressive. Once I engaged the group, the boss respawned and both bodies had one.

very good for mid game throwing build if you wanna switch returning pike. You can bind with eldritch knight build. The lightning damage kinda stack with tavern brawler feat. Not to mention its one handed, meaning you can use shield with it
this weapon allows you to escape after you strike without provoking an attack
Equip this on a Tempest Cleric with Polearm Master and knock people around constantly with opportunity attacks
