Summon Companion is an Action in Baldur's Gate 3. Actions can be used in both exploration and combat to manouver across the battlefield or to harm or aid Characters. The actions that a Character can perform are based on their Class an Equipment

It has some weird thing where companions sometimes spook goblins and make them scared/ surround you and tell you to shoo the beast. It's pretty frustrating when you're in the goblin camp just trying to be ready for a fight

The Raven's Fly ability now triggers opportunity attacks if they are to close to an opponent when attempting to do so
They get xp at the moment..so my spider was lvl 2 nad got 5hp..but as soon as you long rest..they disappear..and you resummon lvl1

Do the companions level up too?
Otherwise they, including the spider, are quite useless in higher levels with their HP and AC.

Doesn't stack with Find Familiar, which may be as expected, but was still heartbreaking

So weird that they didn't include a panther, the most iconic creature for rangers to have at their side.
