Dip is a universal Bonus Action in Baldur's Gate 3. Actions can be used in both exploration and combat to maneuver across the battlefield or to harm or aid Characters. The actions that a Character can perform are based on their Class and Equipment.
Dip Information
- Description: Dip a weapon into a surface. Alters the surface or enhances the weapon. If you are dual-wielding, dip both weapons.
- Type: Bonus Action
- Range: 3 m
- Duration: 3 Turns
- Damage: 1d4 of the damage type associated to the source of the dip.
Dip Tips & Notes
- Alongside surfaces, you can also dip your weapons onto an enemy or ally to buff your weapon. You can also dip your weapon on yourself

you can dip your weapons in act 3 in the purpleworm poison, located in the exploding house cellar, where the big eye monsters corpse lays in the cornor . that coating seems to be infinite on the weapon an is one of the strongest poison coatings aswell

1d4 fire damage, lasts 3 rounds, you dip all weapons at once
best way to use this is to drop a candle, dip, then pick it up again

this is a completely useless entry, it doesnt say what the damage bonus is or how long it lasts, it only provides the incomplete information thats already in the games tooltip
For the first 10 hours into the game, when I dipped my weapons in fire it would last for 10 turns. Now it only lasts 3 turns. Anyone know what made this change?
(I did not download any patches for the game, I've had my Steam set to do-not-update)
