Underwhelming for a level 9 ability. Seems decisively better to stop at Thief level 3 and muticlass to Way of the Shadow Monk. You lose uncanny dodge, expertise, 3 sneak die and delay evasion and a feat. In return you get Monk's extra attack, flurry of blows (which you can use twice in a turn), bonus unarmed attack, +4.5m move. Then as a shadow monk you get to use shadows to teleport AND gain advantage (as a bonus action, no per rest limit) or become invisible (as an action, no per rest limit). If there are no shadows where you need them, you have darkness for 2 Ki points. If you progress to level 9 monk you become immune to difficult terrain and get +6m jump, which should allow to get pretty much anywhere in combat.
You also get free minor illusion, which is useful to set up ambushes. As a bonus it's also thematically fitting for Astarion.

So basically umbral shroud.... Just be an arcane trickster at this point. Hell up to LV9 you can be AT and then multiclass into a warlock that has one with shadows

Better play as Duergar infinite invisibility outside combat, once per battle at level 5 :(

how the hell this wiki fails so miserably to give information on anything. This does not mention that this refreshes on short rest in any way.

Is this just infinite invisibility or is there a rest cooldown?
super troll onetrick build:
17 str, 16 dex, 15 wis, hag+ 1 in dex, asi for 18 dex and 16 wis or just 18 dex if you dont get the hag, let Astarion drink some blood for +2 str, tavern brawler for +1 str and unarmed dmg, Mirror of loss for 22 str.
Build 9 lv Thief, 3 lv Way of the Shadows Monk, take proficiency and expertise on stealth, cat grace armor for 20 dex and advantage stealth, pass without trace from monk(concentration) +10 on stealth checks, use supreme sneak with gives you Invisible WITHOUT concentration to be 10 rounds wich only breaks if you fail a sneak check to be unseen in combat while attacking. Take a Finessweapon for your one sneakattack per round and follow it up with bonus unarmed. still have a bonus action left so run around the enemy with your cunning action or jump.
total: 3 attacks per round(1x main hand, 1x off hand, 1x unarmed bonus), 1x 5 sneak attack die, + 23 (+5 dex, + 8 from expertise, +10 pass without trace) on stealth checks with advantage and high unarmed dmg.
