Hunting Shortbow is one of the Two-Handed Ranged Weapons in Baldur's Gate 3. In BG3, each type of weapon has different ranges, damages, and other features (Finesse, Versatile, Dippable, etc). Characters need to master certain Proficiency before using a weapon, and sometimes gain special Actions while holding it.

AnonymousGet this ASAP, it works with every attack when wielded, not just ranged, and monstrosities are very common. This will boost early game tremendously. I am at level 6 in the Underdark and still using this on my two-weapon style Ranger, she shreds. And it's still a decent bow in itself thanks to the +1 enhancement.

I think this may be bugged? It was giving advantage on attacks to party members who aren't wielding the bow. I thought it may have been because the wielder was threatening but it applied to enemies the wielder was nowhere close to. Happened against the phase spider matriarch.

LOCATION SINCE ITS NOT LISTED HERE: Dammon the Tiefling Merchant in the Grove sells it! He moves to Baldur's Gate after you get them out of the Grove (I think) but free hunters mark and feller of monstrosities which works on all weapons right now, it's very good esrly-mid.

The advantage against monstrosities works even when attacking with spells and melee weapons, making this bow an absolute banger. Monstrosities can be nasty and aren't that rare, so having advantage against them with any attack simply by having a shortbow equipped is a serious potential benefit. Plus, the bow can be found pretty much at the start of the game for dirt-cheap compared to the benefits it brings :D
Does it work with Hand to hand? Some builds reccomend the bow with Tavern Brawler Monk.
