Trident of The Waves is one of the Trident Weapons in Baldur's Gate 3. In BG3, each type of weapon has different ranges, damages, and other features (Finesse, Versatile, Dippable, etc.). Characters need to master certain Proficiency before using a weapon, and sometimes gain special Actions while holding it.
Umberlee, the goddess of the sea, is deeply capricious, intelligent, and not nearly as wet around the edges as her domain might suggest. She often demands sacrificial tribute from sailors, such as their ships, their cargo, and, while she's at it, them.

Unfortunately, this trident does not activate the passive with throwing damage, which doesn't make sense since its passive specifically mentions that "On a hit, create a 2m water surface centred around the target."
It's probably a bug, I hope Larian fixes it, the potential to abuse the elemental reaction with this weapon is too good to be wasted like that.

Does this proc off spells, I wonder? Would be amazing for an ice / lightning mage.
Unfortunately, nature domain's divine strike: lightning doesn't create lightning water, or cold provide ice. It does, however, still make use of this weapons 'wet' vulnerability affect it creates.
