Visit the Emperor's Old Hideout Notes & Tips
- Notes & tips go here
Looks like the fight gave some players a "headache". In reality, this is a much easier encounter with Gith warriors.
Some Tips (you don't need to employ any tricks, such as preemptive strikes, darkness, silence, etc.)
1) Do have a chat: Do not give up a precious rare chance chatting with a high-ranking Gith paladin.
2) Don't give up 2,000 XP by destroying the two portals.
3) Do ambush the ambushers: After combat starts, do not leave the entrance area until everything is under control.
4) At the start of combat, take out the paladin by the end of the 1st round (ideally before she takes actions).
Some details:
The ambushing party consists of:
- Paladin: L11, 189HP
- Fighter 1: L9, 110HP
- Fighter 2: L9, 110HP
- Archer: L9, 74HP
-Gate Master 1: L5, 31HP
-Gate Master 2: L5, 31HP
Reinforcements from the portals:
- Up to 8 warriors/archers: L5
Note:
- If the game master loses concentration (because distracted, injured or killed), his portal dies.
- Every kill here is worth 250XP, except for the paladin, whose death rewards 320XP.
- Player can get up to 3,620XP from this fight (Again: do not close the portals yourself).
On Tactician difficulty: Astarion + Karlach (both L10) are more than good enough to take down the entire ambushing party. They should stay near the entrance for a few turns to avoid being surrounded. Combat naturally starts with these two companions, due to their high initiatives. During the 1st round, have them work together to take down the Gith paladin (L11, 189HP). After that, nothing is remotely hard. Do not close the portals, as the kills of those stepping out of the portals are worth a total of 2,000XP. Don't give up on that huge bonus XP.

Tatical: From stealth: Took out the lights. Killed the portal guys. Teleported on the left and killed another gith while 2 were searching for me.Watered the middle area. Lightning was my friend. Group lost about 15% health (group: rogue, shadowheart, gale and karlach). But not at first try ;)

i went in from the sewer and the game is kinda break. all dialogue from the emperor are in reverse, like he said sentence in reverse order not talk in reverse.
That gith fight was nearly impossible on tactician. Hardest fight of the game til this point. Have a way to defend against Fear, or you're f'd

You can avoid the gith fight to access the hideout by going from the back way. Flamefist structure east to tavern -> prison underneath -> toilet -> sewer -> misty step or fly to avoid the toxic gas, open the door then u ll encounter a npc and get to the hideout. Soery i don't play in Englishg so i dunno the exact name.

Be warned that this is a superboss-level fight if you are not innately immune to fear and blindness; Almost every enemy can inflict both, has teleport and jump buff, and are wearing heavy armor. Several of them have Paladin auras, and two enemies with unbreakable Concentration will summon more every turn. The AI in the fight is enhanced and will intentionally ignore summons to kill the main party, and will stay in cover to afflict you with as many debuffs as possible before coming into melee. The ranged enemies will use Oil of Diminuation along with multishot arrows to debuff your entire party.

Can confirm the button near the door behind the statue is bugged, always save after the Githyanki fight and before rolling for Perception. It may not show up even if all characters pass the check. Just keep reloading until it pops into existence with a success.

So if you fail your perception checks you just can't access the room? Even though the Emperor is literally telling you how to get there? Ok
Not sure if it's a requirement for Lae'Zel to be in your party to bring up this option, but I with [Intimidation] "Strike me and die, a failed warrior forgotten by your people." and a DC 18 check I was able to avoid the fight entirely. Got 1070 exp for it.
