Save the Gondians Objectives
Find the prison.
- We met Zanner Toobin, leader of the Gondians constructing Steel Watchers. We agreed to free their families, kept hostage by Gortash, in exchange for the Steel Watch's destruction. The hostages' location is kept secret, but Zanner thinks there may be clues in the Foundry's lower levels. We must be careful not to be seen - or risk disaster.
Save the Gondians Walkthrough
- To free the Gondians, you need to infiltrate Iron Throne.
- You can only reach Iron Throne from Flymm Cargo. (Quest Save the Gondians and Avenge the Drowned will lead you to this location.)
(Hatch to Flymm Cargo is hidden beneath some crates, at X-163, Y-143. Alternatively, you can reach Flymm Cargo basement through City Sewers.) - You need to carefully select your team and spells for this location. Once you land on Iron Throne, you will have only 6 turns to extract as many prisoners as possible. Dimensional door, and Teleportation Circle spells are very helpful, as well as Potion of Speed.
- Omeluum is also kept here in the furthest corner. Send one of your tank teammate to rescue him, and draw the attention of Sahuagin. Omeluum has a special spell that can teleport himself and one extra back to the sub, so don't worry about the time.
- Escort duke Ravengard and Gondians to the sub, then talk to Zanner Toobin to complete the quest.
- If you come here before attending Gortash's coronation, Duke Ravengard will not be here. Wyrm's Rock Fortress will be a hostile area when you return, and you will get a quest update that Ravengard is dead when entering Wyrms Rock.
- If you completed the Githyanki egg quest in favor of the Society of Brilliance in Act 2, Omeluum will not be here.

I appreciate all the help in the comments but I did not enjoy this mission. Duke was dead very first turn no matter what.

If you made pact with Gortash — will he become hostile after yo do the prison break?
I was going to skip coronation but spoke with Mizora along the way and decided to turn back and attend coronation. After coronation, make sure to speak to Mizora again. In my case, I completed a few quests before finding her back where I left her, near the bridge at Wyrm Crossing, before Basilisk Gate. I did not agree to Mizora's offer for help (and sign my soul to a Devil) Here are additional tips for the more difficult mission:
1. You must reach the Duke in the first turn. A turn later, he is dead by the time you get there. Go down ladder, Remaining movement + Long Strider Dash + Misty Step is enough to get there to say hello and keep him alive.
2. Open cell and use Gaseous Form to keep him safe from harm, especially exploding spiders. Spiders appear as soon as Duke moves forward from his cell.
3. Gaseous Form limits the movement distance of the Duke so remove all danger, before you dismiss the gaseous form. In human form, he can use Dash.
4. Enemies in this level throw nets and attack hostages so try to get your party members to stay between hostages and hostiles to take the damage, or rescue those engtangled.
5. Eldritch Blast with Push works great for moving enemies (at 20 Charisma with modifier+push, you can eliminate or reposition multiple hostiles.) Cleric Spirit Guardians LvL6 spell is wide enough and strong enough to defend a passageway from hostiles
4. With one turn left, I got a party member to the foot of the 2nd of the 2 ladders, but there were still hostages who had to climb. I expected that character to die but they didn't. The cut scene showed them escaping with us.
I hope this helps anyone attempting this mission without the help of Mizora. This was one of the most enjoyable quests in the game!

I'm not sure why my comment was deleted, but w/e. It is for the people.
To save all in one go you must open all the farthest cages at the first turn. Prebuff with haste in the sub and anything movement/teleport related. Remember to use dash. When combined with haste it is extremely useful.
Hostages can get stuck or block the ladder - use pushes, wind spells and throws (had to throw several times in my case). Sometimes they stop right before the last ladder - you can push them into it and they will be tped on the sub. Just to clarify - not the first ladder, the second, which leads directly into the sub.
You block the central area by using levers near doors. You can do it once hostages left that area to block enemy spawn.
Also you can cast greater restoration on the duke to make sure he doesn't skip the turn (if Wyll ended his contract).
In my case Omeluum wasn't there, so keep that in mind.

Sometimes hostages get stuck/block ladders due to poor AI. Use push/throws/wind spells to move them. Also, in my case on last turn 2 hostages get stuck on the 2nd floor (near last ladder, which leads directly to the sub) and refused to use ladder. You can push them into it and they get mystically teleported into the sub.
You can cast greater restoration on the duke. This is not necessary, but can help with turn management.
Also, if you want to save all gondians, make sure you open most cages on the first turn, so prebuff is important, especially haste. And clever dash usage of course. You can block the central doors, there are levels near them. Once you've done saving middle room, make sure you use them, so new enemies get stuck.
I managed to save them all, but in my case Omeluum was already dead so keep that in mind.

This quest is so GD epic! I had a barbarian, and fighter bashing down doors and a bard and warlock teleoporting folks to the exit. I lost a party member here and i really considered save scumming but it was such a glorious death that ended up saving 2 more lives. I had to let it go. IT was even more touching because it was my love interest who died.

I seem to be in a situation where the submarine has disappeared, yet that only happens if Gortash is dead and I haven't fought him yet.

There seems to be a bug when the gondians try to move in groups of three and one of them gets stuck? caused a few of them to be left behind on my playthrough rip - maybe try to move your characters as out of the way as possible to prevent issues with the pathfinding
