You can reach The Festering Cove by a jump from the above location (X:70, Y:-239), next to the mushroom portals from Auntie Ethel's lair. Be careful of the exploding mushroom, you can shoot it before jumping.
  • Succeed in Investigation (15) or Arcane checks to find out the true identity of this Boooal, if you succeed in a Persuasion (15) or performance check, you need only to fight the red cap, otherwise, all Kuo-toa will turn hostile. (drop Sickle of BOOOAL)
    • If you choose to sacrifice you companion, your party will recieve a permanent BOOOAL's Benediction buff which grant you Advantage on Attack Rolls against bleeding enemies.
Note that the sacrificed companion can't be revived, even with the True scroll of Resurrection.
    • If you choose to be his champion, you will get Sickle of BOOOAL. A 2d4 sickle with BOOOAL's Blessing, the same effect as the previous choice.
    • Or you persuade Fish people to worship you and fight BOOOAL (Requisite: Bard, Performance Check: 20). Doesn't seem to give any special reward right away, however it might unlock further questline layer on, but currently it's unknown.
    • Shadowheart will be inspired regardless what you choose.
  • Sickle of BOOOAL can also be stolen from Pooldripp.
  • Dark Urge character can choose to work for Boooal.
  • Once the red cap is down, you can tell the Kuo-toa to worship you, or follow the teachings of your god.
  • Helmet of Autonomy can be found on a skeleton, at the entrance of The Festering Cove. (Early Access)
  • Slippery Chain Shirt in a Hidden Gilded Chest, jumping across blue mushrooms X:-400 Y:325.

Does anyone have any insight if this interaction has any effect on the Kuo-toa that you can run into near the Thorm Mausoleum in the Act 2 in the Shadowfell? (Hostile or not, etc.)

      • Anonymous

It's funny how your companions are all like "I can't believe you just did that" when you first start using tadpole powers, but they don't care at all when you casually offer one of them for a ritual sacrifice

        • Anonymous

If you accept the buff and then knock one out but kill the rest you can keep the buff since only one kua-toa needs to be alive for the worship to channel it

          • Also ich weiss nicht was ich getan habe, aber bei mir gibt es keine Dialogoptionen zum Opfern ich kann keinen Opfern. Kann das sein das Larian das geändert hat? Ich habe alle Dialog optionen ausprobiert.

after you get BOOOALS Benediction, you can still kill Pooldrip him by pickpocketing, running a small distance away, passing a persuasion check, casting illusion, and killing him out of sight of the other worshippers

I had an idea to sacrifice Halsin or Minthara since you can only have one or the other. But, on this save I already got Halsin and blocked myself from getting Minthara. I am able to travel back to the underdark with Halsin surprisingly but know at times he didnt want to leave Act 2.

Im on another playthrough now and will try this. I'll reply to this comment on whether or not you can sacrifice one to Boooal and still get the other companion after.

I haven't found a reason to keep the fishbacks alive after you kill BOOOAL. So, I became their new god of murder and murdered them :)

The mound near the waterfall is bugged, the chest will fall through the world. To grab that chest, you need to dig it with turn-base, then drag the chest out while holding "Alt" to see the chest.

Wyll is funny in this quest - if you kill the redcap and become their god he'll say "what the heck, - PRAISE MAKLOOPA!" (the name they give you)

                      • Anonymous

if you wanna get the chest before it falls just dig the hole in turn based mode and drag the chest to the surfice with alt

I was curious and brought in a hireling to sacrifice. You're not allowed to do that. I was only given the choice to sacrifice one of my other 2 party members.

For anyone wondering: the chest in the apparently empty dirt mound can be openend, but it doesn't really contain anything. For me it was just a single "rope" item, not a quest item, just the standard one.

The empty hidden dig spot does spawn a chest but it spawns it under the texture you can see it if you turn on turn based mode it will just fall into the abyss once uncovered hope it doesnt have anything good in it.

Dark urge has dialog about feeling sickened by submitting to a false god, though it's ironically the only way to actually make permanent buff useful if you frequently use the spoiler power you get in act 2.

There are several chests dotted around, including a couple of buried ones, but one is bugged and reveals no chest when you dig. However, there is a chest just off this map, which you can get to by 2 jumps. Warning, it's trapped and close by are 2 exploding shrooms.

there is a letter addressed to doni that you can pick up on the docks. in case you forgot, doni was the dude who was tied to a windmill at the blighted village and was looking for his old friend

[Oath of Vengeance] [Paladin] has special dialogue here. You tell the redcap you don't need god, you have the power of weed and anime on your side and you'll show him how much you've vowed to smoke it all in a single day. Or something to that effect. All the fishmen turn against the the redcap and you fight him together. All hail Mahkloompah

Next to the passage towards the chest with the slippery armor, there's a dirt mound which contains ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Actually, it's not nothing, but the chest you dig out instantly falls through the ground.

there is kinda no positive outcome. if they survive, no matter what you choose, it leaves a bad taste. if yo uare a cleric and tell them to worship your god, they promise you to learn about the god that controls you and one day kill him...

                                          • Anonymous

Love how not one person has stated HOW to Sacrifice their Companion in this area. Let me take that duty, as I found no answers across the web in this regard; In order to sacrifice a companion to Booal and the Kuo-toa, you need to do so during the INITIAL conversation, and you can only sacrifice ONE of your Companions, which HAVE to be IN your party DURING the INITIAL conversation with Booal and the Kuo-toa. Doing so nets you the permanent buff that you get on the Sickle, but you can also LOSE it by killing the Kuo-toa. So if you sacrifice your companion, and KILL the Kuo-toa, you lose both the permanent buff AND the weapon based buff AND the companion permanently. You can steal the weapon off of Pooldripp if you opt for the permanent blessing/sacrifice leaving them alive, though the value of the action is highly questionable. I am unsure as of this moment if the Permanent Buff and the Weapon Buff stack with each other in terms of cancelling Disadvantage, and then gaining Advantage once again. It is highly unlikely, though it would not surprise me.

                                            • With 3 skill checks [Bard][Performance] lets you proclaim BOOOAL a false god, that you are the real BOOOAL and convince the Kuo-Toa to fight him with you.

                                              • And yes, every companion also will get a blessing permanently for the end of the game without any additional actions from your side, but sacrificed companion will never be resurrected and will lose even a soul, also you can obtain additional inspiration points from the survivors and it will work with hiring, and also it will work funny with Wyll and Gale XD

                                                • And yes, just to give you more hype - EVERY companion has a special cutscene for killing them, and if you try to bite Kralach you will gain a flame debuff

                                                  • Let me clear this quest for you:
So, Booal is a fairy red cap with blood as a source of power, what we can do with it?

We can kill him and his followers as a space marine
We can sacrifice one of our friends to obtain a permanent passive blessing from him and become part of his church
We can become The chosen one with fancy status and dagger with the potential to progress the quest, it's funny but you can even kill him and his church after this to see funny
We can become his kind of warrior without special status but with a weapon
We can kill him in the ritual duel and become a new god for the fish and also give them one order to progress their village

Maybe something else, because I don't test it with different races and classes

                                                    • Anonymous

This are seems bugged: You can reveal the Red Cap and try to break the Kuo toa slavering, but no matter what, If you kill BOOOAL every Kuo toa will be hostile. Seems the the devs forgot something, because we can got the inspiration "Earn the worship of the Kuo-toa" killing the Red Cap, so why the Kuo Toa turn hostile once we killed the charlatan?

                                                      • Anonymous

to the far north, you can jump on the big blue mushrooms - the 2nd (farthest north) has another chest (trapped).

                                                        • Anonymous

Does anyone know if making the kuatoa worship you as makloompah gets you anything? I told them to go out and get an army for me. Will I get anything for this later in the game? Also an update on this information, you dont get the sickle of boooal from killing him, only from siding with him which you can do even as non dark urge.

                                                          • Anonymous

The dialogue to face him 1v1 is only this line "I'll just kill you and claim it for myself" after succeeding the previous checks. the other lines are bait. Also FING CAPTCHA we got rid of that stupid **** and now its back??? what kind of cartoon villain greenlit that ****???

                                                            • Anonymous

After killing the redcap when I talk to pooldripp the dialog system turns to multiplayer voting mode, and breaks the game. I'm in single player
