Baldur's Gate 3 Whispering Depths Quests
Baldur's Gate 3 Whispering Depths Walkthrough
There are two ways to get into the Whispering Depths. One is through the well by the Blighted Village Waypoint. Another is through the basement of the Blacksmith's house in the Blighted Village. In the northeast part of the village is a House at (X:31, Y:438). In one of the rooms, you'll find a hole in the floor covered by some web. Burn the web away to be able to jump down. Head southwest into the forge room. Approach the cracked wall and your party will roll an automatic Investigation Check. If anyone passes, you'll find that the Cracked Wall can be destroyed. Through this hole in the wall is the Whispering Depths.
Once inside, your party will roll automatic Survival Checks. If anyone succeeds, they'll notice the webs surrounding the area. Your character will roll saving throws against being Enwebbed while stepping in these webs. As you explore the Whispering Depths, you'll encounter multiple Phase Spider Eggs. Make sure you destroy them to make a later fight easier.
Walk a bit further into the Whispering Depths, and you'll find some Ettercaps up on a ledge to your right. If you initiate a fight here, you'll also draw the attention of some nearby Phase Spiders. After you deal with them, search the Skeleton in the middle of this cavern to loot the Apprentice's Journal. Reading this journal will start the Quest Search the Cellar. Head further in and there will be a split in the path - one heading east and one heading southwest. To the east is the Well Bucket you can use to get back up to the surface oof the Blighted Village. Next to is a Skeleton with the Amethyst Ring.
To the southwest is an abandoned forge. A Heavy Chest can be found in the left side of this room with the Spiderstep Boots. The Wicker Chest in this room contains multiple scrolls - a Scroll of Web, Scroll of Colour Spray, Scroll of Speak with Dead, and Scroll of Ice Knife. Head back out the forge and to your left is a Cragged Rock you can climb to get to the upper ledges. There are several Phase Spiders and a Phase Spider Matriarch up here that you can avoid if you wish. If you follow the southwest path to the end, you'll find a Cracked Wall that will bring you to a house in the Blighted Village at (X:-450, Y:-389).
Head northwest, and you'll find the Phase Spider Matriarch pacing up and down a square-shaped area. You will likely want to fight her to continue through this upper part of the Whispering Depths. Before you do so, however, make sure to destroy the Phase Spider Eggs near her. If you don't, she will teleport to them and hatch Phase Spiderlings from them. The Phase Spider Matriarch will drop the Poisoner's Robes.
After defeating the spiders, head southwest from where you found the Phase Spider Matriarch and you'll find a Dead Goblin Child. Southwest of this body is a wall of Spiderweb you can burn through. Follow this path, going down both Cragged Rocks, and at (X:-557, Y:-357), you'll find the Dark Amethyst, an item used during the Quest Search the Cellar. Make your way as far southwest on this level as you can, and you'll find the Whispering Depths Waypoint, allowing you to travel to and from here at anytime.
There's a large hole in the ground by the Waypoint here. Jumping into the hole is one of multiple ways to reach the Underdark, but in order to survive the fall, you'll need access to the Feather Fall Spell.

Used cloud of daggers of Matriarch when it was on web bridge between the two eggs caches. Dropped into the under dark and died.

You can also enter Whispering Depths by climbing up some crates in the basement (if you jumped down, enter the door to the south of the hole, the crates are on the right wall) and jumping up into a dank space that has a Skeleton lying in the middle and a cracked wall in the opposite end. I don't think that one required any perception checks, just actually noticing that there is a space to jump into. That way you start from the upper levels and approach from southeast.

On the PS5 version of the game they have patched out the knock back effect on the Matriarch so you have to brute force the fight. Tried multiple times from different angles and Eldritch Blast didn’t budge her.

You can sneak around and use a bow to destroy the spider eggs before starting the combat encounter. Killing the Matriarch after doing this gets you the achievement.

Eldritch blast will knock spider queen into the depths without actually fighting her. Easy achievement

In the room with the Spiderstep Boots there are four journals. If you read all four of them with Gale (or anyone with the Sage background) in your party you will gain an inspiration. Also wearing the Spiderstep boots or transforming into a spider will not alert enemies while walking on the webs.

This place ****ing sucks. Oh, I've climbed down a well. Time to face 4x ambushing phase spiders and 33hp acid spitting murderers at level 3.

If you destroy the web "bridge" while that Spidey is standing on it, she will fall and take around 30% of her HP as fall damage. Useful kill her on low level. Also, if you plan to destroy eggs before she wakes them - leave at least 1 egg in each pack. That will force her to spend 3 rounds calling for a total of 3 spiderlings, those shouldn't be a problem and she'll be open to suck in damage for 3 turns in a row.
I was up high and saw the Matriarch (Lv. 5) across an opposing bridge before she noticed me. My Lv. 3 Warlock cast eldritch blast and one-shotted her right off the bridge. First time I've let out a loud LFG scream in the game so far. Incredible.

Just beat matriarch. Didn't save. Jumped down without any featherfall. Reset to before matriarch. Screw this place.

fun fact, you can actually just jump down the pit in the middle and get a hilarious cutscene
