Sentinel is a Feat in Baldur's Gate 3. Feats are special talents or expertises that provide special capabilities to characters. At certain levels, your character will get to choose between an Ability Score Improvement Feature or a Feat. (Note this feat is not available in EA and all info is subject to change.)

- This can act as a soft taunt on enemy targets you are melee with. Any melee target will not be able to move out of range or attack an ally. If they do, they get an advantaged opportunity struck and they are not able to move.
- This feat works with sneak attack on Rogues. Sneak Attacks can only be used once per turn, so if you took an SA reaction between your turn, you can't use it in the turn after.
- Does not work with any forms of Wild Shape.

Enemy ai will simply jump through your attack zone to avoid triggering this, and the turn based combat isn't reactive enough to give you the benefit of not being attacked from having a reach weapon. Since it takes around have a second to actually figure out that someone has moved in range, all melee fighters will still get to attack you. Please larian fix, this plus your errors with pole arm master makes it so glaive/spear builds simply are not viable when compared to other weapons.

Doesn't work as good as in the tabletop, because Larian ****ed up another mechanic. The reaction - very often - is delayed and won't stop someone from disengaging or from closing on the feat owner. For example, and enemy with a short weapon rushes you, engages in melee and then sentinel procs, enemy attacks after soaking the opportunity attack and you basically wasted the most useful feature of this feat.

Patch 4 makes it work in myrmidon forms with weapons (not earth)

Does it work with protection fighting style? You can use Sentinel vengeance only after enemy already hit your ally, but protection triggers earlier so that you can give an enemy a chance to miss, so I wonder if you get several options or protection only first and if you don't use it then you get to use Sentinel attack after your ally is already hit (I ask because you potentially capable of killing the attacker before he deals damage)

Very OP. Pretty much a soft taunt on enemy targets you are melee with. Any melee target can't move out of range nor attack ally. Or they get advantaged opportunity struck and they are not able to move.

Hello, can we use the reaction to make an unarmed attack ? I cannot find the info anywhere on the net. Even with the rules for DnD 5e people aren't agreeing haha. Thank you.

Does this work with rogues sneak attack? It should trgger on both conditions as in the first case there is an adjacent ally and in the second case you have advantage,

does this work together with Cleric-Tempest: Wrath of the Storm? So within melee range, enemy attacks ally...Sentinel triggers...but does it also trigger Wrath of the Storm?

booooo they left out the juiciest part of the tabletop feat: "When you hit a creature with an opportunity attack, the creature's speed becomes 0 for the rest of the turn."
This had incredible synergy with Great Weapon Master/Polearm Master - the latter in particular because of the ability to provoke opportunity attacks on approach instead of just retreat, turning you into a 10' radius circle of death with some luck-dependent crowd control - if you were willing to sacrifice the ASI's and Feats for it.
Not like the devs of will see this or anything, but it'd be cool to get Sentinel buffed back up and the interactions all together. I always enjoyed the dilemma between choosing to optimize a Fighter for polearms, or focus on pumping ASI's and just the meta feats, especially since Fighter is generally pretty much a no-brainer to build anyway

Oh boy does it work great with darkness warlocks. My Wyll with a pact glaive weapon can 1v1 anyone in the darkness by just not letting them leave.
So apparently you can cheese this by baiting enemy opportunity attacks on allies on your turn to take a full multi attack (level 5+) instead of a single melee swing.
