How to Unlock Heavy Armour Master

You'll need to fulfill the following requirements to unlock Heavy Armour Master

Heavy Armour Master Tips & Notes

  • It provides you armor proficiency with light armor and increase your Strength and Dexterity by one.
  • If you're like a spellcaster who wants light armor, you can pick that up easily from a race, and you don't really need Strength and Dexterity as a spellcaster all that much.
  • Dexterity could help you with armor class, but you can pick up this proficiency from a race really easily or through multi-classing with something else.
  • The damage reduction also works on fall damage.

Funny thing if you combine with Warding Bond you can take 0-2 damage with some armor like Adamantine or Helldusk
but in the end enemy will ignore you and try to hunt you teammate no matter how far they was

Even though it states something different in the tooltip it raised my str to 21 after picking it at 20 str

The damage reduction DOES work with heavy armors that have the -2 damage on them.
I used Ketheric's armor on my tank, and Adamantine armor on my Cleric who casted Warding Bond on the tank.
Enemy attacks would often hit for 0-2 damage on tactician since damage had to go through
          1) Resistance from Warding Bond
          2) Damage reduction from this skill
          3) Damage reduction from Tank armor
          4) Damage reduction on Cleric armor
And that was even if they could hit my Tank's AC.

          • Can confirm, this feat's Str bonus is borked. I have +3 to strength from permanent buffs and +1 from 2 feats, starting at 17. In theory I should have 22 STR, but this feat stops working, because it considers permanent buffs as one of my basic/feat ability scores, turning itself off. I then tried respec and took Athlete (+1 to STR) and ASI (+2), which seem to be working as intended, bringing my STR up to 23.

There's a problem currently with this feat.
It doesn't seem to add +1 STR if you have permanents effects that give you +STR.
I started as a Fighter with 17 STR, took this feat at 4, took +2 STR on 6. Here i am sitting at 20 STR.
But then i complete the quest (Act 2) that rewards me with +STR permanent potion.
I drink it and my STR is 21 instead of 22 that it should be.
When i inspect my character it doesn't display on STR ability that i have any bonus from Heavy Master feat. The damage reduction still works, but bonus to STR was lost when i drank the potion.
So keep that bug in mind until Larian fix it.

Stack with the Adamantine armor. This with reel along with non crit means the wearer can truly hold down even bosses.

The damage reduction also works on fall damage.
Useful when used with warding bond, a hit of 6 damage gets halved, -3, and then shared. Neither party member takes any damage.

It’s decent for a half-feat, but other options like Tavern Brawler are usually better unless your just not throwing things.

If you’re a madman doing a Lone Wolf run, this can make Act 1 a lot easier to manage. Although it drops off later, so you may want to respec out of it at higher levels

Can anyone confirm? When I click on it and checkmark it, I do not see my ability score for strength increase. So, I never click the finish option and level up. Does it increase after I finalize the level, or does it just not work. This applies to a lot of feats that just give you a +1 ability score, without you actually pressing the + button next to the ability score.
