The horde of goblins in act 1: "Give up, we have you surrounded!"
Vengeance paladin with the Everflame sword: All I'm surrounded by is fear. And dead men.

Great Weapon Master feat + these gauntlets is an amazing combo. You can toggle All In and still land a majority of your hits against targets, or just toggle off and have 80+ accuracy against almost everything. I use them on my Bear Totem Barbarian, who has 18 strength, and the -5 to rolls barely affects me.

They're not described as light armour anywhere in game. I wonder if they can be worn by monks and still provide the armorless buff

These are great for rogues, as it allows you to sneak attack enemies if you're on your own and outnumbered.
Also, if you manage to knock an enemy unconscious (KO, not kill), it still counts as being surrounded if another enemy runs up to attack you, so you can essentially duel people with permanent advantage and sneak attack.
They're great especially early on, but look god damn ugly with all the armors in act 1.
