I don't see why you can't bring the fight to the grove and still get the helmet as a reward. As long as you still kill all three bosses, you should get it.

I got the helmet even after I refuse the gold when Zavlor sent me to kill the 3 goblin leaders. Did this by talking to Halsin, and he too ask to kill the leaders in order for him to escape prison. So I went out; (important note, if you've been to the Underdark and found the way to reach the Act 2 areas, don't ever mention any of it to Halsin. Just focus on the goblin/grove topic)
1. Kill 3 leaders
2. Talk to Halsin, he transformed and left to the grove
3. Fast travel to the grove, then enter the Druid area via the cave/back door (it's important that you see Halsin first rather than bumping into Zavlor at the front gate)
4. Talk to Halsin
5. Talk to Rath for the reward
6. Talk to Halsin for the next step
7. Talk to Zavlor (he'll offer the reward and you can accept it)

IMPORTANT: The item is in the sack that Zevlor gave you, simply open it to claim the item. You need not to find Cerys.

You can heal up everyone but one person in your party for free using this, lol. Just have one person get knocked down repeatedly (fire on the ground, etc) and have the wearer of the crown use the help action on them. 1-6 HP per help, no spells required. Just heal the last person normally and you're good
