Seems like you are required to select an ally. There is no option “finished section” after choosing this spell to get only yourself out of a sticky situation. (PS5)
The biggest reason this spell is so much better than Misty step is because you don't have to see the location in D&D... Wish they would do that for this game as well...

I always use it to teleport my cleric into the bunch of undead then go boom with the Turn Undead spell. Super effective, considering clerics have the worst mobility of all classes.

Can be used alongside Misty Step (which is a bonus action) to pull allies out of sticky situations or up to vantage points. Helps your bow and magic-wielding friends keep doing what they want to do. Definitely stock up on the scrolls for these if you're able to.
Pretty much essential in act 3 for a certain section against the clock
