Mix this with a shield and some AC gloves or something and congrats, that character refuses to take any damage that doesn't go through AC. Not technically, but it sure does feel like it

You can REAGE in IT, only usable heavy armor for the BARBARIAN

If you have a Draconic Sorcerer and you unlocked free flight at level 11, using this armor make so if you press Z (default button for jump/fly) your character will try to jump instead of flying. Annoying bug. You can still fly if you manually click the spell to fly.

I normaly take 2 levels in fighter for my strength thief monk builds so they don't have terrible ac but with this I wouldn't need the proficiency hm possibilities

Despite 21 AC, 3 damage reduction, universal proficiency, burning and flight, it's still only been the second best option for any character from my experience so far. The armor of persistence, armor of agility, potent robe, robe of the weave, etc. all seem like better choices within their niches. Maybe this is better if you are an especially creative multiclass intelligence or wisdom casting build with only access to light armor that wants to be a front-liner too, or if you're doing something special with fire damage or the burning condition. In my playthroughs, it only gets used if I have a second heavy armor wearer in the active party.

This is fancy but, personally, not really as good as the easily-purchased armor of persistence for a primary tanking character proficient with heavy armor. And, unless you have more than two spellcasters in the party, there are better robes for charisma and intelligence casters as well that add spell DC, spell attack, spell damage, etc. and may have other effects more appropriate for them. I can get Gale and Wyll to 22+ AC in robes that I think do more for them. So this gets put on secondary or tertiary heavy armor wearers like clerics and rangers if the party has more than one. I'm sure there are creative ways to exploit the fire and burning damage and perhaps there are multiclass builds this armor could be ideal for, but I'm not seeing the legendary status in these effects. Even once per long rest flying just doesn't impress me when potions of flying exist.

Wanted to ask (haven’t reached this point in the game) but while wearing this armor can you get the feat heavy armor master (the one with -3 damage from physical damage) without needing heavy armor proficiency? Please reply if you know!

For some reason, this armor currently (patch 3) causes the defense fighting style twice, giving you an additional ac.

the concept of a mage in full plate armor that lights enemies on fire when they miss is terrifying

Didn't drop for me for some reason. :(
Think it might have to do with the fact that I had lethal blows turned off.

Don't know if it will stay this way, but as of 4.1.1.3669438 the armor doesn't impose Disadvantage on Stealth Checks like most other Medium/Heavy Armors. No idea if this can actually make it useful in a stealth build (especially when Invisibility/Greater Invisibility exist) but thought it was an interesting property.

Its. So. UGLY. After 100+ hours into this game... I finally turned on the camping gear option to hide it.

My Wyll (Spellblade Warlock - Pact of the Blade) currently wears this armor. Very OP.

The equivalent of +3 plate armour that does not require proficiency.
Monks don't lose their unarmoured Movement when they have this armor on.
