Noblestalk Location & Where to Find

Noblestalk is part of the Find the Mushroom Picker quest and can be given to either Baelen Bonecloak, Derryth BonecloakShadowheart or a Dark Urge origin character. When first found, Noblestalk is in a hard position to get. There are poisonous Bibberbang flora all around that, if triggered, will explode and destroy the Noblestalk due to a lit torch nearby that will ignite the poison spores.

The Noblestalk can be given to Shadowheart during dialogue after a successful Persuasion or Intimidation check. Adds another entry to her Daughter of Darkness companion questline as she recalls a memory of a childhood friend, Rennald, in Baldur's Gate.

Retrieving the Noblestalk

The easiest way to retrieve the Noblestalk and save Baelen Bonecloak is to seperate the party and use one character in turn based mode to move around. You do not trigger the flora unless you end the turn next to one so you can move around freely as long as you always make sure you aren't close enough to trigger a Bibberbang when you run out of movement points. You can handle the situation this way however you like without needing to use any resources or spell slots.

Another simple way to retrieve the Noblestalk is to extinguish the torch at the back with a cantrip like Ray of Frost and then consume an Elixir of Poison Resistance, which will allow you to walk back and forth unharmed by the toxic gas released by the Bibberbang mushrooms as you navigate your way across the field. Mage Hand could also be used to throw the torch out of the field, where the player can safely pick it up.

Alternatively, players may throw a Misty Step scroll to Baelen Bonecloak (allowing him to escape) and use Misty Step themselves as a quick way to reach the Noblestalk, before it explodes.

Another easy solution would be recruiting Sovereign Glut on the North West entrance to Myconid Colony. As a Myconid, Glut does not trigger mushrooms while passing them. You can use him to safely traverse the cave. Holding down Left Mouse Button you can use him to toss both Noblestalk and Baelen's bag back to safety, from where you can pick items up.

Noblestalk Notes & Tips

  • There is an alcove nearby with 5 Lolth's Candles.
  • You can find a hidden Wooden Chest near the Noblestalk that requires a Survival Skill check, containing random loot.
  • There's also a skeleton in the rocky outcrops above the Noblestock that contains Explorer's Ring.

nobody notice legde on the left? just hop up, hop down to the bag, take bag, take torch (if not, noblestock will fried if u start blowing up bibberbang), throw bag to baelen. then can just jump back up to the ledge, talk to baelen, then start clearing bibberbang to get to noblestalk.

There are 2 IDs for noblestalk,

spawn both in your inventory using cheat engine,

give one to Shadowheart (she takes the consumable one),

then talk to Derryth and show her the mushroom (she takes the Quest one),

Just an FYI for people who want Shadowheart’s dialogue AND the rewards (more shop inventory in Act 3 / Outlander inspiration) for giving it to Derryth:

          - Exhaust all dialogue with Derryth except ‘Show Noblestalk’.

          - Place Noblestalk in container in your inventory. Return to camp and initiate dialogue with Shadowheart. Pass persuasion/intimidation check.

You will exit her cutscene and the mushroom will still be in the container. This worked for me, but moving the container to a companion should also work.

You can now give the mushroom to Derryth for her reward and Karlach’s inspiration.

Mage Hand did wonders. Ignore the torch. Spawn MH next to Baelen's backpack, Throw backpack to Baelen. Then, Fly MH closer to the Noblestalk and casually click MH even closer. Now you can Place, not Throw, the Noblestalk closer to the edge of the chasm where there is a clearing. MH will disappear but you can then Jump to the edge of the chasm to pick up the Noblestalk.

For anyone curious: The one needed for the quest (that can also be given to Shadowheart) is unique.

You can use the "Summon Quazit" Spell/Spell Scroll to retrieve the noble stalk without detonating the Blibberbang.

you can also use a familiar or mage hand as neither will trigger the shrooms, to drag his bag over to him... once at his feet he will grab it and misty step himself out.

                  • Anonymous

You can also just use Shovel to move Baelen’s backpack towards if you have Shovel available. Shovel doesn’t trigger the mushrooms either.

Gave it to her using the consume option in Act 3 and it did NOT cure Shadowheart or recover ANY of her memories. So I have to assume the only way to do it is the during the one dialogue where she asks you not to pressure her into eating the noblestalk. Any time after that I guess it's bugged to not work. She still has the Mysterious Sharran Wound and seems she is stuck with it no matter what now.
Had to make her consume it because the option to get her to eat it never popped up after I told her the first time I would respect her wishes on not eating it

Ledges along the left wall let you bypass just about everything to get him his bag and get the noblestalk. There's also a skeleton with a ring up there.

If you have sovereign slurs with you, he doesn’t trigger the bibberbang, you can just walk freely through all of it like it’s not even there.

I sent mage hand to try and bring it over and the mage hand consumed it. I dont understand how a hand can eat a mushroom

You can also give it to Thulla to cure her poisoned condition. Additionally, if you give it to Thulla, while the scene shows you giving it to her, it will end up in her inventory. You cannot trade or barter for it, but you CAN pickpocket it back. The same happens if you give it to Baelen, and because Shadowheart is in your party, it actually remains in your inventory. Thus allowing you to get all of the effects for it, and then you can hand it over to Derryth, and even steal it back from her. As of the time of this comment. Having given it to her and completed the quest, the game treats it as if you had given her the Noblestalk despite having stolen it back, thus allowing you to buy 4 Noble Stalk for the games duration, making these in essence, a fantastic party refresh if you are getting slammed with conditions and you are low on potions. (Not that either of those things should be THAT much of a problem.) Derryth acts like you had given her the Noblestalk in Act 1... which... you did... briefly...

I kept the noblestalk until Act 3. Gave it to Derryth Bonecloak at her shop, near Lorroakan's shop in the lower city, down the street from the gazette. She'll gripe that they can't get noblestalk anymore. Give her the one from Act 1. You don't get anything for it but if you go back the next day, I found that she had 3 to buy in the shop. Noblestalk gives a full heal and possibly more.

This article is incorrect; feeding the Noblestalk to Shadowheart does NOT remove the Mysterious Sharran Wound at all. But it does help restore some of Shadowheart’s memories.

Um, I see a lot of elaborate strategies here, but...

Just unchain one character, and run around without triggering mushrooms. Using dash, you can easily go from safe spot to safe spot.

First get to bag, then run to Dwarf, it is safe to stand there. Disable turn mode, wait a bit. Then enable turn mode and go again.

Next safe spot is in the circle of shrooms, close to noblestalk, where the chest is hidden. Third safe spot is down at the cliff, from there you can make your final run to loot lolth's candles.

                                    Done.

An other way to get this mushroom is to snikea still an orange mushroom on the local King.

                                      SPOILER :
if you followed the quest of vengeance of the Sovereign Glut and Kill the king, just cast invisibilty, then loot the king's body.
With this Item in your inventory, no more mushroom will be triggered by your presence in all the area !

Warning ! with my main character the buff didn't seems to work (Dark Urge) so take care, but it worked with my 3 NPCs

I used mage hand but I THREW it instead of MOVING, and that destroyed it :( so don't get impatient, y'all.

On the bright side, it seems like Mage Hand doesn't trigger the poison mushrooms either.

I threw water into the torch to put it out. Then drank an elixir of poison resistence and was able to walk to the plant and pick it up.

I just ran through the field with one character real fast to grab it. Just kept popping hp bots while tanking fire and posion lol

                                            • Anonymous

Have a misty step scroll on you. It will come up in the initial conversation. You will toss it to him after a strength check (10). He will give you a scroll of invisibility in return. Afterwards go into TB mode and dash to the bag. Get all the loot there. Now dash to the Noblestalk, other side of the room, get it. For me everything started exploding at this point, so I hid as best as possible in the little lolth candle alcove. I survived. You can dig up the chest near where th stalk was later.

                                              • I used enhanced leap in this area of the Underdark.
Throw a water bottle at the lit torch to put it out.
Drag Baelen's bag toward you from a safe distance until its close enough for you to throw without triggering the mines.
Throw Baelen his bag near his feet (don't hit him with it)
With enhanced leap you can jump to where Baelen was previously trapped.
From there what I did was (save before doing this) jump to the spot of the noblestalk, grab it, then two-jump over to where Baelen is.
Finish his quest dialogue send him packing. Now you've got noblestalk and Baelen alive. He'll give you a scroll of teleport.
Also grab the cystals in the corner in the same manner.
Use Shadowheart to clear out the cave with fire after you've collected the loot. (make sure everyone is out of the cave cause its gonna go nuclear)
Dig up the hidden treasure after the cave is clear

Another method of navigating through the bombs:
                                                  1. Use "Turn-Based Mode".
                                                  2. Use only 1 character
                                                  3. Use DASH action and then go through the bombs.
                                                  - Note: You can also use Boots of Speed here as bonus action for more movement speed
                                                  4. End turn in a safe place

I accidentally blew it up after saving Baelen but before I knew the noblestalk itself existed, is there any other source of it ingame?

                                                    • Anonymous

So this in fact does NOT cure the Mysterious Sharran Wound condition, as it will still pop up later on the game.

The easiest way is having a scroll of misty step. Start to walk into the grove which will trigger him to warn you, you can then shout you have a misty step scroll and throw it with a strength check

                                                        • Anonymous

You can still both give Noblestalk to Shadowheart and keep it for yourself to potentially give it to the questgiver. Before you talk to Shadowheart transfer Noblestalk to any other character, start the conversation and try to give it to the Shadowheart but before the persuation/intimidation skillcheck switch to Noblestalk holder, who does not patricipate in the conversation, and just throw it on the ground, finish the conversation with Shadowheart. Noblestalk is still on the ground for the taking. Strangely, this same trick does not work if you want to give Noblestalk both to the husband and his wife.

Also, with the latest Update of today, the noblestalk is gone when giving Shadowheart to eat.

I simply use mage hand for the bag, then extinguish the torch (with spell or throwing a water bottle) and finally shoot all the poisonous shroom with my bow.
Can appear slow but it's safe

A quasit with invisibility (Shovel!) can move the bag over to the dwarf and the torch and even noblestock over to the party if you have some time. Plenty of methods without using spell slots! I'm guessing invisibility on a character would be fine too, but I didn't try it. Oh and there's a buried treasure chest in the area has a 20 survival check but nothing really good inside

                                                                • Anonymous

I didnt want to give her bad ideas and ignored the chance to feed it but after she show me her childhood memory I'd like to feed it to her now. Trying to eat it results into a message "eating strange mushrooms can be dangerous. Atleast let's talk about it first". All other characters will happily eat it and restore 40 +HP even when not injured.

                                                                  • Giving the noblestalk to Shadowheart does not remove the Sharran Wound condition, it procs it for a single turn, assumedly because Shar disaproves of Shadowheart getting some memories back.

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous
