Idol of Silvanus Notes & Tips
- Rarity: Common
- Value: 350 Gp.
- Weight: 0.4 Kg.
- ID: ??
- Aura of Silvanus affect those with 8m of the idol even if carried in inventory.
- This effect will disappear if the idol is exposed to moonlight such as when the party rests at night. Putting the idol in the camp chest before long resting and retrieving it in the morning will preserve the aura for the party's use.
- This effect may be due to a bug
- The idol is also hard coded to induce a theft response in surrounding NCPs. In camp they are the Party or guests and have no theft dialog so any witnessing the "crime" of picking the idol off the ground will see your own companion's and pets turn instantly hostile as if you stole from them personally.

A VERY easy way of stealing it is conjuring mage hand from a distance and using the hand to THROW it until you reach your character and then pick it up

9/13/2023 If you have a pouch/chest drop it near the idol cast cloud/darkness open the chest/idol and move the box to the side now drag the idol into the box and then make sure to go to camp. Then go to any teleport and collect your idol. Trade to Mol for Act 3 tier item and then steal it back after.

It's rather annoying that there are mechanics in the game that are neither obvious nor explained, e.g. the Idol losing it's charge when exposed to moonlight. It's not the idol that's generating the aura, it's the ritual the druids were doing, yet the info dump off the tooltip implies its the idol.
So how about the rest of the idols, or are those useless, as well?

That clown Volo turned hostile at the party camp when I put the idol into the chest. Luckily that happened when I had no more use for him.

You can give this to Mol for the Ring of Protection and then just buy it right back. You may even be able to steal it back.

Careful with the idol while in the camp.
If you drop it in the camp and pick it back up, Halsin and Scratch will become temp hostile. They become immediately hostile if you pick it up near them, but if you do it far away or in stealth they suddenly become hostile the next time you interact with camp chest (or possibly with other containers in the camp, have not tried it out)

You can trade this with the idol of selune and they won't aggro you.

The buff disappears after a long rest, dropping the idol gives the buff then you can pick it up again.

Summoned the Spectator with the Iron Flask in the ritual site, went invisible and took the idol during the fight without prompting the slaughter off the Tieflings. I'd imagine this would work if you summoned the ogres as well.

Sadly, the Idol's power will only last until you Long Rest, after which it becomes a paper-weight

Tip, you can use the Mage Hand skill to take the Idol, once you get the quest to do so.
Fly the Hand to the stand the Idol is on, then use the Throw ability. It won't cause any aggro, but you have to be quick, keep throwing the Idol in the direction of the sea ,where the sirens are, once far enough with no one in sight you can just pick it up with no issues.

Buff applies. Dunno why it sais it does not as of release. That's just outright false. In addition, If you steal the statue, then go to your camp to place it. It won't have the Red/Steal tag applied to it, but your party members will become hostile if you pick it up as if they were NPC's/Druids from the Druid Grove. The only way to fix this, as the Camp sites are too small, are to 1. Die, 2. Reload, 3. Kill Them All and Move On. 4. Just don't steal the statue without the quest? Which you MUST accept, BEFORE you settle matters with Kagha, by talking Mol in the Thiefling Hideout. Hopefully that party members attacking you issue is resolved... yes, I tested it multiple times. In front of, behind objects, sneaking. Same result. Your party loses their minds if you steal an idol they don't care about. (Not sure if it affects Hirelings. Probably, is my best guess.)
