You can throw them off the cliff with Eldritch blast, and some luck.

If u are here looking for a way to get past southern gate and you saved iron gnomes but despite everything people says, they are not helping youwith distraction at the gate, it's because stupid scripting! There is a cave to the right sides of the gate and gnomes are in it. You have to visit them first and then they will help

There is a note found in the Steel Watcher Foundry that implied that Steel Watchers are weak to the Strange Fluid that can be found in those Nautilus Tanks that can be found around the game.
Something about how it was discovered that the fluid would corrode their components and that future constructs would require an additional coating for protection.
I have not tested this, but I suspect hurling a tank at a Steel Watcher would do something.

These guys are a goddamn pain. You can fight them one at a time at the front gate, although it becomes a bit tougher inside the factory. On the 2nd level down I had to fight a huge sprawling battle, as more and more enemies kept getting drawn in, which turned into a real debacle and I had to run, and pay Withers 600 bucks (not a big deal at the end game honestly). Went back and mopped them up.
The boss fight with three Steel Watch and the Steel Titan was a bit tougher. But I re-specced Jaheira as a Sorceror and gave her every lightning spell she had access to. I used a lot of glyphs of warding (lightning damage) as well. Pretty straightforward fight, one companion went down in the fighting and one went down because he was maimed when the last Steel Watch blew up.
I did find one spell that can un-maim but can't remember it now... Any way, lots of lightning, lots of glyphs, you're gonna do fine! Don't worry about the hit percentage It will tell you that you have a low chance to hit because they will be 'saved' by their high DEX, but since lightning does half damage even when saved, and they take double lightning damage... Yeah do the math.

Although it isn't listed anywhere on the units, they are also immune to prone.

Do these enemies count as objects? If so, would an adamantine longsword get critical hits on every attack?
They removed the lightning Vulnerability in Patch 6 :(
