If your attack that would consume this is a Sneak Attack, the damage is added to both your attack AND your sneak attack. Meaning that Arcane Tricksters can use it to get a bonus 2d4 damage when alternating Cantrip and weapon attack (Or simply using Cantrip and off-hand sneak attack)

Flame Blade from druids counts as spell fire damage when swinging normally. Could be a neat little damage increase for them when dual wielding, though you'd move on from that later in the game.

Does this work with war caster shocking grasp (opportunity attack)?

okayish in the early-game. measly damage in mid-/late-game. should be buffed to 1d4 for ALL weapon attacks until the end of your next turn.

does this work with the Flail of Elemental Ages? it comes with a spell that gives your weapon an extra elemental roll

If I'm understanding this right; you need to deal damage with an elemental spell or cantrip, and until the end of your next turn you deal 1d4 extra dmg of that element, but only on your first successful attack.
Okay, I tested this and that's exactly what it does. It's only 1d4 worth of extra dmg, and only after you successfully hit with an elemental spell. So to make use of this ring properly, you need to alternate spell and weapon use and not miss every time, all just for 1d4's worth of measly damage.
Yeah, a totally useless ring. You can use anything else and get more utility and use out of it. This ring is easily replaced and surpassed by just throwing down your torch before every fight, and dipping your weapons in it; this lasts for 10 turns for every weapon attack you make, and doesn't take up your precious ring slot.

Neat ring to support the war magic feature of an Eldritch Knight fighter. It does not currently work with Armor of Agathys or Fire Shield and possibly other similar effects.
This ring needs one of these three things:
1, found way earlier than the creche, when it's been very out-scaled
2, needs to add 1d4 to ALL attacks until the end of your next turn. (so your eldritch knight could cantrip, bonus weapon attack with the 1d4, and then the next turn, attack, extra attack, improved extra attack, and action surge attack, each with the 1d4 applied)
or
3, needs to simply have a bigger die. maybe 1d8 on your first weapon attack.
I SUSPECT the reason it seems so imbalanced is that it applies 1d4 to all attacks if you use multistrike moves for your "first attack." eg, flurry of blows (if they had a cantrip), or sword bards flourish. as someone else mentioned, when you use sneak attack with rogue, the 1d4 applies to both the attack roll and the sneak attack roll because it was one singular attack.
building on that, in that creche there is also a longsword that has an aoe attack around the user. that might be good, because each person hit with it would take an extra 1d4.
it's unfortunate then that the class its obviously made for -- eldritch knight -- has no mutli-attack skills.
