This item sucks eggs royally! Just checked in the combat log, "Targets take 1-4 Poison damage at the end of their next turn, unless they succeed a Con Saving Throw".
Better option would be Basic Poison, which on success of applying gives enemies Disadvantage on Attack Rolls and Ability Checks. Making them less likely to hit and more likely to get hit, so much better than applying a shitty debuff that does 1-4 dmg at the end of their next turn, which they can also avoid with a Con saving throw.
Even better than Basic Poison is Drow Poison, which also adds the chance to sleep enemies. Weird that that all three of these have the same price, especially when Drow Poison is Uncommon rarity.
So if you're planning on using Oils/Dips/Coatings, skip this one, go for the other two I mentioned. There are better alternatives, but they're not as economical.
I found that if you throw in down at a way point it stays an you can you it when ever you want
