Easy way to get this item while not having to fight her is go through the dialogue options and have a character with thunder wave be next to her a the window. wait till she walks back to the window and save. use thunder wave to knock her out the window which should kill her instantly.

Can a wizard learn it by using the scroll? I take it that they can not due to it being labeled the "Signed Trade Visa" and not "Flesh to Gold".

i gave her 27k gold for max XP and the visa. i started combat when she was by the window and then i started combat by killing one of the visages with my ranger. combat starts with her turn. she ran up and attacked me (my whole group was right next to her by the window). I used my ranger and asterion to pick off a couple more visages, then karlach beat on her, pushed her towards the window, then laz beat on her and pushed her out the window. the fall did like 174 damage and boom fight over. i think they nerfed this because old comments say it one shots her, in my experience it only ever does 174 damage so you'll need to pick off some visages to weaken her.

I went up the large stair path (overlooking a chasm), only to have her turn immediately hostile upon informing me that all my gold wasn't enough! Her first move was to IMMEDIATELY push one of my heroes off the staircase, into the chasm, thus killing her (Karlach) and making her corpse irrecoverable! Once it was finally my turn and one of my heroes was able to do something (other than falling to their death, I mean), I sent them to push HER off the staircase. She similarly fell into the chasm, thus ALSO making her corpse irrecoverable. However, I couldn't live with that. I NEEDED to despoil... I mean "Search" her corpse, so I just HAD to load a previous save and start all over again.
Nevertheless, something positive came from all this; it turns out that you can rather easily 1-shot her, even if you're playing the vanilla game, with no cheats! You just need to get lucky with the dice roll when it comes to pushing her off the staircase and into the chasm. Oh, you also have to not care that won't be able to search her corpse/ recover any items she was carrying.

              After some testing:
This works exactly like Flesh to Stone, including that it can be cured with Basilisk Oil.
The condition it causes is called "Goldified", but it does not seem to differ in any practical way from Petrified (I guess golden statue is more pretty though).
Goldified status stacks with Petrified status, making the statue have interesting goldish gloss on stone grey (not visible on examine preview).
Killing the Goldified character ends the condition and turns the corpse into dust like with Flesh to Stone, though interestingly you can still pick it up afterwards in both cases. No value mentioned on the corpse though, so I doubt it can be sold (did not bother testing).

Best possible outcome - !warning, heavy spoilers! - 1) Pay all your gold, get this signed trade visa. 2) Position character with high str next to window, position rest of party outside building, under said window. 3) wait for fatso to walk up in front of you. 4) Push fatso outta window, fatso loses 1 armor part. 5) repeat 4) until fatso is down to roughly 100 hp(only mask left). 6) Push fatso out one more time. 7) finish prone fatso(now skinny...) with outside waiting party members. 8) receive another 500 xp on top of 1160 xp from before + get all your gold back. 9) ....?Profit.
