Scroll of Summon Quasit Notes & Tips
Summoning the Quasit gives a unique named familiar called, "Shovel." You can rename them to "Fork" and "Basket" in subsequent dialogue. The familiar speaks of Illy, their last master, never finishing the Necromancy of Thay book and that you can and should continue where they left off. This may only work with the spell learned from the scroll found in the casket of the basement near where the book is found.

How to Get Shovel as a Storm Sorcerer
1. Use Disguise self spell or Mask of the Shapeshifter and disguise yourself before talking to Shovel.
2. Talk to her.
3. Remove the disguise and talk to the mirror.
4. Go back and talk to Shovel and you will be able to summon her.
Item UUID: "6b881dce-b87f-4c3c-aa98-7ba4b07c009b"
Ps. It seems any class can cast it, but only spellcasters can get the recast option (my Ranger didn't) so in the end it turned out that Shovel was disposable.. shovel.

To people who want to know how to get two Shovel, here is a simple guide.
Step 1: Learn her scroll on a Wizard or Sorcerer.
Step 2: Summon her.
Step 3: Answer 1 to all of her dialogue.
Step 4: Speak to her with your Warlock, she will call you a spell shite and give you her summon spell.
You do not need to walk through the mirror to get this, it can trigger immediately after the first dialogue ends.

Never got this in Act 1, but I found another scroll to summon him under Sorcerers Sundries. Is this a bug or is this another intended path to getting him if you missed it in act 1?

If you have both a wizard and either sorcerer or warlock in your party you can get summon cheeky quasit twice.
- First learn the scroll on a wizard (e.g. Gale) and summon it.
- The first dialogue option choose *leave*
- Initiate the "first conversation" as warlock or sorcerer
- Keep choosing option 1, go through the mirror and talk to shovel again
- Shovel will call you a spell shite and be added permanently to that character.
Note that the sorcerer/warlock that permanently learned to summon shovel will keep the spell, but if you swap classes from the wizard who learned it through the scroll, he'll lose it.

Apparently, you need either Warlock, Wizard or Sorcerer in order to get her permanently without changing classes.
Here's what I did: I took her scroll, use it and spoke with her, anything was normal. Then I went to the mirror and succeed to enter(Shovel tried to deceit me telling that the Balsam is good for burns, I also tried to trust her, a Flaming Sphere appeared and destroyed everywhere so don't trust to Shovel yet). I went in and read the Necromancer Book of Thay with my Custom Character, than I tried to speak with Shovel again but she always say: "I always tell the truth beefy, so trust me!" something like this.
BUT, as soon as I try to speak with Shovel as Gale or Wyll, she immediately gave me her permanent spell(or action so to say) The Cheeky Quasit. She also said something like:"Oooo, a spell shite! Use my spell and kill everything!". So with my guesses, she needs either a Warlock, Wizard or a Sorcerer in order to give her spell. I tried with Shadowheart and my Custom Character(which is Barbarian) but Shovel didn't give the spell, only with Gale and Wyll.
So I guess, if you respec to Wizard, Warlock or Sorcerer BEFORE speaking to Shovel for a SECOND time, theoretically you can get her permanent spell but I am not sure if you respec BACK to your original class, you still have the spell or not. I didn't test this because the whole questline and getting Shovel as permanent had exhausted me so I just give her to Gale. I didn't bother it.

As a dragon sorcerer I was unable to learn the summon ability while in act 1, regardless of dialogue choices, but if I moved on to the shadow lands from the underdark I was able to learn the summon permanently once I was inside the first building into Act 2.
While in Act 1 Shovel/Basket would ask me about smelling of 'fire and iron' like a dragon the moment I summoned it. In Act 2 it starts with "Who are you?" My guess is that after that you get the normal 'ok you can summon me now' dialogue choices. I was able to both rename and keep 'Basket' from then on.

Done some testing. Shovel joining appears to be dialogue dependent. You must say that pillaging and murder is okay, or must talk about master Illy's necromancy and say that it sounds fun. You will know you've succeeded if after talking to Shovel again, she tells you that you can summon her.
Other notes:
- Appears you can do this any time (I did this right before Act 2, as I only bothered with the scroll then)
- Storm sorcerers CANNOT learn to summon her, as she is afraid of them (you get unique dialogue about your magic smelling "like thunder and pain")
- Unsure if caster types other than Warlock can have her join, as I only tested with Storm Sorcerer PC and Wyll.

You can summom two Shovel at the same time: scribe this spell via wizard and have a warlock learn it via interaction

Can anyone else's Shovel use two actions? Mine only has one. Kinda weird since Wyll's Imp and Quasit can use two actions. I'm level 6 btw.

1st) Respec into Warlock or Sorcerer (Temporally).
2nt) go to Blighted Village>Alchemist's Basement>Behind the Bookcast>Cave area where there is a bunch of Coffins
3rd) Pick up Summon Quazit Scroll and "Cast" scroll (Learning the spell then casting it as Wizard makes it so you already have learned it, so when you respec back into your original class the game will remove it with your list of spells)
4th) Talk to Shovel and pick the 1st dialogue option for every dialogue choice, even if you have or haven't read the "Necromancy Book of the They".
5th) Go to the Mirror that leads to the next room (If you already passed the Mirror's puzzle, dont worry just walk through it. This will still work.)
6th) Talk to Shovel again after walking through the mirror, he will call you a "Spellshite" and give you the ability to summon him as a ritual spell. (Bard, Druid, Cleric, etc spellcasters that arnt Warlock or Sorcerer dont trigger this dialogue, but if your Wizard it does technically. This can help if you someone else to learn the spell if you have someone else summon the Quazit and fallow the steps, but someone else talks to the Quazit after crossing the mirror. I just figured this out like 5 minutes ago so I can advocate that this works)

You don't need to be a wizard and learn the spell. You can just cast/use the scroll. Summon shovel once, and talk to him. Ask about his master, then his name, don't change his name and then say pillaging sounds fun. Talk to him again immediately and he will give you ability Find Familiar: Cheeky Quasit". I did this as a rogue.

you can get shovel permanently on any class:
get the scroll,
respec into warlock,
summon shovel and be nice to it (i asked about illy, didnt rename it and said a bit of pillaging would be fun)
after the dialogue talk to it again to gain a shovel as an inherent ability
and finally respec into whatever you were before or want to play as.

do you thinks have easter egg if you have shovel in every acts ?

Any reason to even pick Pact of The Chain when you can summon Shovel as a Warlock? Are Pact summons stronger, somehow?

Had Gale learn Shovel's summon scroll then cast it to summon them, then talked to Shovel with my Custom Character and got the initial summoning dialogue all over again. Afterwards, both my character and Gale knew the "Summon Cheeky Quasit" action/spell? But this didn't work when I tried it with the other origin characters in my party for some reason.

I tried to learn this spell as a Wizard, got the new spell learned pop up, can’t learn the second scroll I found, but the spell is not in my spell book. Is this bugged?

Zhentarim outpost is enemy to Shovel. You better keep him invisible while in there.

Potential bug, scroll might not exist sometimes. The casket had nothing for me in it.

If you find Shovel's scroll, your wizard can learn to summon him as a familiar, making him a permanent part of your party! He keeps all his voice lines.

I added it just fine today. It's honestly one of the most useful familiar spells out there. Basket has resistance to nonmagical damage, fire, and cold. They have utility and any shot at them isn't a shot at me. For a cantrip? 9/10 wish it didn't need to recharge on a short rest.
For some reason I ended up with 2 of these scrolls.
One scroll said that my wizard could learn it while on the other that option was missing. However this is not the case. The game will still take your gold and consume the scroll however; and even tells you that the spell is added. But when you look in your spellbook it won't be there.
So not sure if wizards are really meant to copy the spell into their spellbooks or not but at present time it does not work and you can only cast it from the scroll directly or summon it through normal means if you're a warlock. :)
Not sure if anyone is aware but, you can learn this spell via the scroll instead of summoning them and doing dialogue.
Either way you still get to name them and stuff, with no risk of losing Shovel forever.
