I put this in a reply but I'll put it into a separate comment too so people can see it. It's not unchanged or weaker than in 5e, it's actually significantly stronger. If you read the tooltip in game you'll see it now does your weapon damage in addition to the 2d8, which includes any modifiers or extra dice from items like caustic ring or helldusk gloves, your ability modifier, and your magic weapon bonus. It also currently says it adds sharpshooter and gwm to the damage but that seems to be a bug as that doesn't show in the combat log. Also melee conjure barrage no longer has to be with a thrown weapon like in 5e, so you can use a greatsword or something for it if you're a str based ranger

By the time you get this spell as a Ranger, it really isn’t worth it. 2-16 damage over a wide area at 9th level is only valuable against a massive group of fodder enemies that are clustered together, and at that point you’re better off having someone else in the party use Fireball. You only get a maximum of 2 3rd level spell slots as a Ranger, you’re better off using them for Plant Growth to cut off enemy movement through an area, or Lightning Arrow for actually worthwhile damage against a single enemy or a small group.
