As of May 2024 there is a glitch for infinite Transmuter stones:

      1. Get a "stay at home" transmutation wizard. I use a hireling but doesn't matter which character it is. You're not taking them with you.
      2. Get them the Longstrider spell.
      3. Go to camp and recruit the transmutation wizard.
      4. Have the transmutation wizard create a stone. Any buff works. Transfer the stone to another character (even somebody not in your current team).
      5. Dismiss the transmutation wizard.
      6. Repeat from 3. Casting Longstrider refreshes the ability to create the stone. Creating a new one after dismissal/re-joining keeps the buff.

This way you can stack all the buffs. Each character can have one but it still means, say, Constitution save proficiency for all (casters love it!), extra speed, and so on.

I wouldn't make the Darkvision stone. The transmutation wizard can also learn the Darkvision spell and cast it on anybody in the party who doesn't have Darkvision. The wizard doesn't have much use for the spell slots anyway.

On a similar note, the transmutation wizard can also cast Mage Armor, so characters in the party don't have to waste spell slots for that.

Finally, dump all the alchemy ingredients to the transmutation wizard (no need to carry the weight) and give them 1 level of Rogue for Expertise in Medicine. The character does need Proficiency in the skill first. Wizards can get that, so make sure you do. Then at wizard level 6 + rogue level 1 (or wizard 4/rogue if you want to rush alchemy) you can have +10 to get double alchemy results from the level 2 transmutation wizard ability (put all ability points into Wis, feat/ASI to get to 18 for +4 in the skill +3 * 2 from expertise).

You get an ability that allows you to create one stone with one of the following effects:

        - Resistance to Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning, or Thunder damage
        - Darkvision to 18m
        - Movement increased by 3m
        - Proficiency in Consitituion saving throws

The ability can be targeted at yourself or a party member. The stone itself vanishes after a long rest and needs to be recast.

        • There is glitch. If you create transmuter's stone and put it for example to travelers chest and create new stone benefits from previous stone remain in effect. You can stack all the buffs and even change class or long rest without losing benefits from the stones when abusing this glitch.

In 5e tabletop the Transmuters Stone works as such, since we don't currently have confirmation for how it works in BG3:

Starting at 6th level, you can spend 8 hours creating a transmuter's stone that stores transmutation magic. You can benefit from the stone yourself or give it to another creature. A creature gains a benefit of your choice as long as the stone is in the creature's possession. When you create the stone, choose the benefit from the following options:

            - Darkvision out to a range of 60 feet
            - An increase to speed of 10 feet while the creature is unencumbered
            - Proficiency in Constitution saving throws
            - Resistance to acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder damage (your choice whenever you choose this benefit)

Each time you cast a transmutation spell of 1st level or higher, you can change the effect of your stone if the stone is on your person.
If you create a new transmuter's stone, the previous one ceases to function.
