Inspirations in Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3) can be spent to reroll an Ability Check. Inspiration can be gained when characters perform a specific action that's true to their background, along with some EXP. There are 12 backgrounds in game, Hermit and Sailor background exists only in EA.

You can have a maximum of 4 Inspiration. If you are at your maximum Inspiration, completing Background Goals only grants Experience.

            I got this when entering Ketheric's Room in the first floor from the Balcony on the outside.


            How to:
            After you spoke with Z'Rell she will give you the key to balthazar's Room. In the room you will find a metal door with a lever next to it leading you to Balthazar's balcony. Next to the other metal door there are some wooden planks that you can reach with any teleport or with a char with high strength. Up there the vnes will have formed a ladder that you can climb up. Jump twice and you will be at a higher level of the Moonrise Towers. Go to the right and you will notice Ketheric's Balcony (has a throne on it as well). Jump down with a Featherfall potion or something like that and enter the room.

                                                                                                                  Act 2: Outlander: Bumps in the Dark - Conquer three combat encounters in the Shadow-Cursed Lands.
                                                                                                                  (Ruined Battlefield) I entered through the Underdark entrance and succeeded in the first three encounters (4 Harpers, Ambush of Shadow-Cursed Vine and Needle Blights, Raven ambush near Last Light Inn) But really, each and every three combat encounters should work.

                                                                                                                    (Ruined Battlefield - Underdark entrance) Just south west to the entrance (X:77 Y: 162) during the conversation with the 4 Harpers. Self-explanatory.

                                                                                                                      Act 2: Sage: Corrupted Beyond Recognition - Find and read the dead druid's journal about how the shadow curse came to be.
                                                                                                                      (Shadow-cursed Lands - Underdark entrance) Just south east to the entrance (X: 132 Y: 169 ) there is a small camp and a skeleton leaning at a rock. Next to it you will find a book called 'Dead Druid's Journal' - Juist read it)

                                                                                                                        Act 1: Outlander: The Floor is Lava - Defeat the Lava Elemental in the lava lake.
                                                                                                                        (Underdark - Grymforge) Hop on the forge, leave it to the right ledge towards the lava sea (where you can find the Sentient Amulett in a middle isle) where you will see the elemental patrolling.
                                                                                                                        (Hint: Frost damage is extremely advisable and makes the fight very easy.)

                                                                                                                            (Underdark) Side with Sovereign Glut, after you kill the Duergar near Ebonlake. Start a combat with Sovereign Spaw.
                                                                                                                            Note: You cannot re-betray Glut and side with Spaw instead.

                                                                                                                                    Is it a maximum of 4 inspiration points ever, or only 4 at a time? For example, Astarion got 4 pretty quickly on my playthrough, if I use inspiration points and then inspire him again, will I get more rerolls?

                                                                                                                                      Can confirm that Merciless (Charlatan) seems to no longer be in the game, have done two playthroughs where I forced the Flind to eat herself, both with Astarion in my party and once with my Tav having Charlatan himself. Neither occasion procced inspiration.

                                                                                                                                            Unsure if Charlatan: Merciless was removed, or is currently bugged. Left a brief guide on Flind's page on how to start get the conversation to trigger reliably. Needs confirmation. (I'd be glad either way. That one is tedious.) Tested getting it four times, two with a Charlatan Custom with Astarion, and two with a Outlander Custom, and Astarion. Was able to get Flind to consume themselves those 4 times (Actual tests was around 20 due to RnGesus.)

                                                                                                                                              In my case it was achieved by having a bard talk to Volo when you first meet him and by always answering using the most extravagant lies
