Wild Shape: Owlbear Tips & Notes
- Wild Shape: Owlbear will be considered a Bonus Action if you selected Combat Wild Shape (Circle of the Moon) and an Action if you selected Wild Shape (Circle of the Land).
- The bug for Wild Shape: Owlbear has been fixed. "The Owlbear Wild Shape will no longer lose access to its Rage charges at Level 8."
- The Wild Shape: Owlbear has a standard attack for 2W8+W4+5 damage.
- The Rupture (AoE) or ground slam can deal a little less damage than the standard attack.
- The attack jump (next to the normal jump) does AoE damage but in a smaller area.
- The Owlbear rage gives 12 Temp Hit Points, 2 STR and frightens everyone around in an area.
- Owlbear Druids are capable of causing high damage by doing jump attacks from above exploiting "Larian gravity" and Wet/cold Vulnerability and Double Dipping of Enlarge (spell + potion).
- The Owlbear can provide a huge chunk of Hit Points and can surpass most feats and tend to become very tanky due to the CC and Hit points combined.
- The AoE Enrage fear boosts your damage, and grants a temporary health shield, in addition to frightening everyone. However, you lose your increased strength once the rage ends.
- The Owlbear's rage ability is compatible with the Barbarian's rage feature. However, you need to use Barbarian rage first before using Wildshape: Owlbear.
- Unarmored defense can work with Wild Shape, the AC gets subtracted first, then allows Con addition. So for the bear that starts with 12 base, it -2 and then +3 for a total of 13 instead of 15 as it should be. Barkskin cast beforehand will set it at 16 until you lose concentration.

The top of this page says "panther shape" instead of owlbesr.

Owlbear shape is super useful when fighting Grym, the robot guardian of Grymforge. When he is softened by the lava he can take good amounts of damage from the druid owlbear's shape crushing flight ability from the platform high above the boss arena (in one trial he took around 150 damage and in another around 40 damage, both without using enlarge on the owlbear which could potentially one shot Grym). Owlbear rupture ground AOE attack also deals damage to Grym when softened by lava, and you can finish Grym off by bludgeoning him with a staff/mace (e.g. with Lae'zel), since he is vulnerable to bludgeoning damage

Seeing Doric in the latest DnD movie turn into an owlbear persuaded me to be a Moon druid in BG3 and it has been super fun, very glad I chose the druid

In patch 5 crushing flight takes an attack action, plus a bonus action? Can anyone confirm?

Owlbear is the best Wild Shape in the game. Not only is it the simultaneously the coolest and cutest creature, it also has great bulk, damage and mobility. I keep using it even after unlocking the sabertooth tiger form, and the dinosaur form, and even those shitty elemental thing forms.

Crushing flight is in my actions but no in my radial slot (controller) anyone know how to fix?

If you multi class does unarmored defense work in wild shape?

"The Owlbear Wild Shape will no longer lose access to its Rage charges at Level 8." from Patch 1 of Larians Bugfix patches.
I was the one who edited this page to add the actions and passives, it was my first time doing this so I'm not great at formatting so if someone wants to refine this feel free.

It has a standard attack for 2W8+W4+5 dmg
A Rupture (AoE) or ground slam that does a little less damage than the standard attack.
An attack jump (next to the normal jump) that too does AoE dmg but in a smaller area
And a rage that gives 12 Temp hp, 2 STR and frightens everyone around him (in an area similar to the rupture area I suppose)

does the owlbear's rage ability add with the barb rage feature?

Owlbear Druids are capable of causing many 1000s of hit points in damage on jump attacks from above exploiting "Larian gravity" and Wet/cold vulnerability and double dipping of Enlarge (spell + potion). Probably the highest damage achievable in the game by a good distance.

The owl leap is incredibly op as for me it almost always knocksdown people and increases your chance to hit them since they are prone

It's really strong. AOE damage + movement as bonus action, decent regulars that pushes away opponents, attack that pushes everyone away at some distance and damages, enrage that gives 2 str, temporary hitpoints and a chance to frighten a foe as a bonus action. Kinda bonkers tbh

My owlbear does not have rage charges available anymore for some reason so there's no way to use the enrage ability, I am unsure if it has been nerfed with recent patch, you might need to multiclass a barb now to enrage (Red axe (rage icon) disapeared)

Thus far the best Wild Shape in the Game. It outhp's everything (only my Karlach with Health Point feat surpasses it minimally), has the best AoE CC & damage profile of all Wild Shapes and is absurdly tanky due to the CC and healthpool combined. And last but definitely not least it has an AoE enrage fear that both boosts your damage and causes enemies to cowarldy run away from you, giving your attacks (that ONTOP of all the above knock back people) even more oomph.
Pretty much a far better combat raven that just takes more space since it can fly like a chickens wet dream.
On a side note to this, they should have given Moon Druids the Halsin Brown Bear with Multiattack. Polar Bear has no chance compared to the Owlbear, and while that might make sense from the 5E, it doesnt translate too decent into a video game where Wild Shape options are a bit limited.
Can crushing flight crit? I'm cooking 6 druid 3 assassin owlbear onehit builds from the top rope WWE style to dome bosses as my 4th character on an honour mode run.
