Can you end concentration to break the wall and do double damage in one turn, or does the wall have to be attacked to break?

Cast this during a big fight and a bunch of enemies went and jumped on top of it! Not over, just on top -- gave me a moment of bewilderment before I was blasted by spells and arrows. Makes me wonder what kind of other shenanigans you can do with this.

This spell is too buggy to cast. It lets you choose where to cast most of the time, but won't cast the spell. The one time I've successfully used it, it created a ice surface but not a wall and did zero damage. Wish they would fix it as it is really good in DND

How about this wall of ice but it has acid? Then we can contemplate giving the acid sorceror some casts apart from base chromatic orb
Patch 6, if there's not enough room, the pre-cast visual won't show pillars being erected, and so on that area all it leaves is a ice surface. Can use illithid concentrated blast to end concentration and leave icy fog behind in one turn. However despite being cold damage, I used it on a wet enemy that should have been vulnerable (says vulnerable in their examine window) but the combat log ignored that and only gave regular cold damage, not double.
