The Great Old One is a Subclass of Warlock in Baldur's Gate 3. The Great Old One's primary ability is Charisma, their saving throw proficiencies are Wisdom & Charisma and they have a Hit Dice of 1d8. They have proficiency with Simple weapons and with Light Armour.
Warlocks bound to eldritch beings in the Far Realms work towards inscrutable goals, gaining strange powers over entropy and the mind.

BG3 The Great Old One Tips & Builds
- The Great Old One may be the most defensive of the three Warlock Subclasses.
- The Great Old One's first unique feature Mortal Reminder allows to inflict the Frightened status effect when you land a critical hit. It may even inflict this status effect on several creatures, if they are close by the attacked one. This pairs great with Eldritch Blast, since it may be used to attack more than one objective.
- Entropic Ward, on the other hand, is a Reaction that can be used to impose disadvantage on attack rolls against you, but also, if said attack misses, grant you advantage on your attack roll against the attacker by 1 turn.
- At level 10, The Great Old One Warlocks earn Thought Shield: Psychic Resistance and Thought Shield: Psychic Reflection. The first one is a passive feature that grants them resistance to psychic damage, and the second one grants you the ability to inflict the same amount of damage to the attacker when you suffer psychic damage. This makes them a good subclass to deal with Mind Flayers

Deepened bond still bugged. Imp still just have one attack.
And even if it would work its really bad idea to go full warlock caster, even with a book. Its way better take only two lvls of warlock and sorc on second class. Still get benefit from eldritch blast at highter lvls without spending points on this trash class.
Only one haste per long rest..? With sorcerer as second class you will have 4-5 on this lvl when using sorcerery points to create spell slots. Totally unconsidered class.
And not because of Larian studio, just outdated system of DND classes suck as hell. This system should be destroyed and created from scratch at least 15 years ago
And yet game is great even when using that poor system of classes. That is why i love Larian

Decent but not great, spells are good, lvl 1 feature is good, but entropic ward having only one use is crap, should have been CHA mod times or proficiency bonus times per long rest or something. The lvl 10 feature is cool but still situational. Overall I just wish they had buffed entropic ward and I’d be very happy with it. It’s still way better than archfey, but not as good as fiend.

If your a weirdo (Like me), and want to do a "caster" style Warlock this one is the probably the best for that when paired with the pact of the tome

This is one of my favorite subclasses in dbd but wish they went with archfey first instead of this. They could have implemented it way easier.

So recently they finally got a level 1 feature but no unique 3rd level spells because the ones they get in 5e aren't in the game. This subclass really can't cacth a break

Bruh- literally useless other than learning a decent spell
Honestly, being able to use Entropic Ward as a free action so you have a 1/short rest powerful feature would be far cooler. It slightly increases defense, but it makes a contrast, you can either have a single-use feature or a consistent feature for the two subclasses.

It says that at Level 1, the Great Old One Features includes "Dark One's Blessings", though I believe this is a Fiend-Subclass ability
This subclass is difficult to play, mainly because it is a damage control, which a lot of people don't like because they want to go for explosive damage. But really, after years this subclass had an upgrade in the D&D playtest, if the BG3 developers had picked up on the idea it would be one of the best
