    • To Land this spell more often, you need to get your Spell Save DC up. An easy way to do this is by using "Arcane Acuity" items.

If you're using weapons as your main source of damage, I'd recommend "Helmet of Arcane Acuity"

I had this spell successfully cast on a boss. They failed their save in their turn. Next in line was an NPC who used Hunter's Mark, which immediately ended Hold Person. Can someone explain that to me pretty please?

Do I understand correctly that it doesn't have a hit dice, only saving throw? How do I improve chances it will land? By lovering enemy's wisdom?

Combo'd it with my Paladin's Crown of Madness - absolutely funny to see your enemy slap the paralyzed one.

For some silly reason, you cannot use this spell on Ketherick Thorm. Either this is an oversight or the term "humanoid" is apparently not true at all lol

Playing a bard. Vicious mockery has a 55% chance to succeed and hold person has a 20% chance to succeed. Both use the same save stat and the same save DC. Am I missing something?

Feels like this spell has very limited use. Humanoid category is very, very specific and limited, so far only able to make it work on the sentient races(human, drow, githyanki etc).
Anyone knows what opponents are humanoids?

Mele Fighter builds combined with this is very destructive - and if you pick Race - Orc for the crits its even better.
